75 years ago, our NHS was founded on the principle of free, public & universal healthcare.
Tributes ring hollow without solidarity for striking workers and opposition to privatisation.
Today, let’s vow to end the corporate takeover and restore a fully-funded & fully-public NHS.
Real News:
Despite a High Court order Boris Johnson has still not handed over his phone with WhatsApp messages from the beginning of the Covid pandemic inc when he was “close to death”
You know the one that would cover the 5 cobra meetings he was too busy to attend for example
Listening to Chris Philp on @BBCr4today talking about ‘protecting the public from @JustStop_Oil protesters’ . Saying nothing about protecting the public from climate breakdown as the government plans to drop flagship £11.6bn climate pledge . . . FFS ! Yesterday was the hottest day on earth
This man is friend of Palestine. He’s protesting front of Israeli embassy today against the attacks on Jenin. He paid a heavy price for his stance on Palestine. This has not deterred him from his passion for injustice and oppression. #Jenin
A reminder that Rishi Sunak spent his entire leadership campaign talking about how “committed” he was to tackling climate change in order to leave a better world behind him for his daughters.
Mhairi Black turned PMQs into Burns Night with this beautifully brutal reply to Oliver Dowden.
Politics needs people like her, now more than ever. She’ll be such a loss.

There is much discussion on the subject of the nationalisation of our water companies right now, with a lot of what is being said by Labour and commentators being close to nonsense. This thread lays out why nationalisation is the right option now, is affordable, and so is right…
They defund the NHS so it looks like it’s failed. Then we have to turn to privatisation and they cash in. They close all safe routes for asylum seekers entitled to our help under the human rights convention we signed up to. Then they blame asylum seekers themselves for crossing in boats and hold them up as racist bait in hotels while they wait years to be processed. They do this because they know capitalising on racism and attacking vulnerable people is a vote winner, even though it shouldn’t be. People die as a result of their inept policies. They blatantly throw parties and socialise during a pandemic whilst making it illegal for us to do so. They capitalise on the pandemic with commercial nepotism and corruption. They empower criminals and spread hate to distract from their BS. They attack the legal professionals protecting our rights by calling them lefty lawyers. They put inflation through the roof. They make house ownership an impossible dream whilst causing rents to rise everywhere. They increase energy bills to insane amounts, whilst passing laws to allow sewage to be dumped in our rivers and waters and discrediting any scientist who points out environmental or climate crises. They abdicate all responsibility for the bonkers mess of Brexit, the gift that keeps taking, and burden taxpayers with hare-brained unlawful multimillion pound deals to deport people to Rwanda with no right of appeal. They and their supporters have done so much damage to this country. Don’t let them completely destroy it. Let’s vote them out when we can… They are the worst of us.
Plans to shorten medical training put quality of NHS care at risk
In other countries they are looking to extend training due to the increasing complexity of care & health innovations, but the UK is looking to reduce training https://t.co/OvtRF5BXu8
After the #Clarkson /Sun ruling they will big up IPSO, aka @ipsonews, as a real, muscular press regulator.
Rubbish.
Here are 10 facts you need to know.
1. Supposedly empowered to slap £1 million fines on erring papers, in nine years IPSO has never handed down even a £10 fine. 🧵
'IPSO’s past record leaves no doubt that it would never have upheld such a complaint had there not been a tidal wave of public anger behind it.'

Important note. The Fawcett Society, while rightly celebrating a remarkable victory over press sexism, also says:
'There must be a thorough and transparent investigation into how on earth these toxic comments made it onto the pages of one of our biggest newspapers.'
@CheeseroomJohn @RishiSunak The answer is having a government that delivers what they promised, higher wages, less tax, cheaper food, better NHS, no added taxes for imports & exports, controlled immigration & look after the 99% not the 1%.
And if they can't do what was promised then go back and fix it in EU
THREAD: Time for an honest conversation about the real Brexit elephant...
The pursuit of closer ties with the EU outside of the SM/CU (what Labour advocate) is in direct opposition to joining the SM/CU, or rejoining the EU.
Why? Let's work through the logic step by step.
