All these racist complaining that Maori and Pacific people should not be at the front of the queue, didn’t hear them complaining about bias when it has been Pakeha for the rest of the time.
“The most I worked was 40 to 50 hours in a school week. I work to support my family with bills and groceries.” - These are the stories NZ's record low-attendance rates don't tell.
Multiple brave & resilient students shared their stories with us @NZQandA

IRELAND - Covid deaths 7839
New Zealand - Covid deaths 1908
Population of Ireland - 5.1 million +
Population of NZ - 5,127,100
But according to NZ's media, Ardern's Govt has done a terrible job.
Each day 40,000 New Zealander’s on average quietly make their way to vaccination centres to do their bit. There are currently only 150-300 people in attendance at the Wellington protests. Don’t be fooled by a loud minority…. We are not a nation divided.
Some important articles in the current NZ Medical Journal, available here: https://t.co/2PJDVdj0BG
First up is an editorial from Caroline Shaw, Annette Bolton, @alexkmacmillan & @rg_jones on healthy and equitable climate policy in Aotearoa
So many media outlets keep referring to a COVID-infected person as “the prisoner”. During today’s press conference, Ashley Bloomfield refers to the same person as “the person who was on remand”. This is an important distinction in language + labelling
A lot of people are reading around vaccines, and that’s a great thing to do, but it’s really important to know how to spot bad science. Warning - this may be a long tweet! In med school you learn how to read papers, and there’s a skill to be able to spot those “red flags”… 1/2
Having difficult conversations around vaccination. Many will have found that discussing stats doesn’t affect the “surface attitude” that is anti-vaccine sentiment. It is the “attitude root” that matters. A good technique is to work backwards… 1/2 @covid19nz
A more accurate view of current vaccination rates in Māori and Pacific peoples than the previous post. Red represents where vaccination rates are BELOW the national average. For an equity approach, we need HIGHER vaccination rates in these populations. There is work to be done.
Working in some of world's hotspots I understand what keeps #NZ safest is not submarines or spy satellites, but ethical conduct on world stage. Arab world never forgot @HelenClarkNZ 's oppostion to #Iraq invasion. NZ must keep demonstrating principled, moral leadership. #AUKUS
@TheSpinoffTV It is overly simplistic to demand a set target for vaccinations and assume that at that level we will safely be able to resume normal life without lockdowns. A national vaccine target fails to look at equity of vaccine coverage 1/2
I don't do it much these days but I wrote something and there's not even any jokes in it! It's kind of raw so if you don't like it just keep that to yourself. It's about me and my complicated relationship with te reo.
