Algebra is the most powerful tool in mathematics. It is also its most beautiful. We need to teach both--or we are marginalizing algebra/math's purpose. Which means we are marginalizing the purposes of students in our classrooms.
Teaching the history of algebra does both.
Today's PSA: "Learning Loss" is a made-up construct and only serves to deflate students, educators, and caregivers. It invalidates their hard work and resiliency, ignores all the learning that happened, and adds unnecessary stress. #remotelearning#education
