NEWS: The MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure in KwaZulu-Natal has slashed his department's spending when tabling the budget in the legislature in Pietermaritzburg.
Lukas Martin Meyer has announced that this time around, they won't have nice to haves. As a result, the bill to table the budget on Thursday would be slashed from a whopping R228 000, which was spent in the last budget presentation, to less than R300.
Among the things he has phased out and led to the drastic decrease is that the speech will not be on a glossy booklet, with his face on it, saving the department over R70 000 in printing cost.
The budget speech will be printed in-house, and on regular paper, there will be no new pull-up banners will be procured for the upcoming budget speech as it was done in the past.
Furthermore, there would be no gifts or goody bags for members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) and other guests. @ScrollaAfrica
