আওয়ামীলীগ সরকার গুম করার পর, বাবা-মা মর্গে লাশ খুঁজতে গিয়েও ব্যর্থ হয়। তারপর বাবা গুম হওয়া আসিফ মাহমুদের খোঁজ চেয়ে সংবাদ সম্মেলন করেন। আসিফ মাহমুদ বর্তমান সরকারের যুব ও ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রণালয়ের উপদেষ্টা।
