Looking forward next @monitorfarms on Thursday.
Like everyone, we're acutely aware of changing weather this yr being +150mm of 🌧
It'll be great to welcome Eric to hear what he has to say about future weather patterns to help planning.

@howemill@RuralLeader@fermerfaefife@qmscotland@SRUC@AHDB_BeefLamb Pt 5/5: I agree- tech is not the sole answer to solving farm profitability but we hope to address common challenges along the way. We encourage suggestions from farmers on speakers/initiatives which are impactful. Let’s have a conversation and see what we can role out in Scotland
@howemill@RuralLeader Pt 4/5: New and shiny does not always mean better, pen and paper may work best for some - the key is acting on the information you are gathering.
@howemill@RuralLeader Pt 3/5: The aims of the meetings were:
1. Identify what information/data do ‘I’ need to make management decisions on my farm
2. How/when do I collect this data
3.What resources do I have to aid with this
@howemill@RuralLeader Pt 2/5: We took the opportunity to collaborate with @H2020Smart on bringing tech providers and farmers together under one roof to help farmers make the most of what they have already got and to help farmers identify what their data needs are on their farm and to ask the right Qs.
@howemill Pt 1/5: With the programme being Farmer Led, Farmer Driven, this meeting developed through the common challenge we have been hearing this year, particularly on Monitor Farms in the West cluster, on barriers when utilising software programmes and hardware tech together.
Final round of @H2020Smart & @monitorfarms technology day at Stirling Mart: Datamars, Ritchie & Te Pari. Great to also have @AdvisoryBlyth Matt Blyth & Ross Robertson from Agri-EPI for good advice.

#MonitorFarm26 have had a fantastic few days aiming to inspire discussion & generate ideas to drive the focus on each Monitor Farm in the coming year. Interested in any of these topics - let us know so we can share these discussions wider! https://t.co/uf7oGEhvxY

Spring calvers onto our 20meter AECS grass margins for a bit of a tidy up. 1st year so not risking differed winter grazing on them.
PD'd today for 1st April calving. 90% 6-10weeks incalf, 10% to recheck in month or so as bulls were still running until late August.
Finally into some spring barley after some frustrating weather. Not a pretty sample, except the Ladybirds (of which there are plenty!) - maybe they're putting the moisture up too. #harvest23 will be one to forget.

The Strathspey management group visited Malcolm's hill ground to discuss land use options.
🌲Forestry?
🌱Environmental grants?
🐮Cattle grazing?
❌Or leave alone?
It prompted Malcolm to invite NatureScot and Scottish Forestry to visit to give their perspectives and suggestions.
Sunshine all round for the summer meeting at Castleton in July! 🌱
Chat about this years crops with @DavidAglen and Stuart McNicol, funding opportunities with @AlexClarkPirie and a demo from @dronesforag
Finished off with sausage rolls and good chat at DRIFT.
