@SandyofSuffolk@onebiggins Ah yes, Sandy, the retired Suffolk automotive engineer who understands the fundamentals of electric vs combustion cars. It's funny how electric cars are somehow against your political grift as if they have an opinion
This discourse is going to kill me.
The entire world, including Andy Weir, cannot wrap their heads around the truth that-
A. Star Trek has always been very progressive and political and that’s a key part of its identity.
B. Modern trek is mostly very stupid and bad and it’s not because its politics have shifted.
@AutoPap 28 (can't afford it). I love it, think it's far less fussy than current models and channels some 90s simplicity in the body lines. Absolutely cannot afford one at 1k a month though, with our mortgage its about £150 a month on a car tops. Cost of living is mental mate.
The UK cannot maintain any strategic autonomy without local data centres.
It can't attract data centres without dedicated, affordable electricity.
Its best shot at that by far is nuclear power.
But affordable nuclear requires vast reform of nuclear regulation.
Which the govt is now doing.
So IMO implementation of the 'Fingleton Review' a sleeper candidate for the most important thing this government is involved in, and peculiarly, the one most essential to medium-term national defence.
In the end it may all be too little too late, but we certainly shouldn't resign ourselves to that.
(I also think we also need to shell out for a truly independent nuclear deterrent like France has. Not sure if renewing nuclear power in the country helps with that, but plausibly it does.
And we also need some actual economic growth to fund all this, which a cheap nuclear renaissance would surely assist with.)
"i need a vehicle to deliver the mail that lasts half a century"
grumman: "no problem"
"i also need a heavy strategic bomber that uses low observable stealth to penetrate enemy air defenses"
grumman: "you are not gonna believe this"
@DBraddish We were impressive in the comeback (for once) but we shouldn't have been in that place in the first place because of some seriously braindead decisions. We were 3-2 with 30 seconds, yes it was a mess in the box but its not a penalty and the ref has ultimately made the wrong call.
