Maternal deaths in Afghanistan could rise by 50% this year.
After the Taliban's ban on contraception, women are being forced to give birth without doctors, miscarrying without treatment, and losing access to even basic medicine.
Absolutely retarded.
"Consent to sex is consent to pregnancy" is one of those slogans people repeat because it sounds profound until you think about it for more than six seconds.
Consent to driving isn't consent to dying in a car crash.
Consent to eating isn't consent to food poisoning.
Consent to leaving your house isn't consent to being assaulted.
Acknowledging a risk exists is not the same thing as agreeing to every possible consequence without recourse.
And calling pregnancy an "inconvenience" is a cute bit of rhetoric considering it involves major physiological changes, medical risks, permanent bodily effects, pain, disability, and occasionally death.
It's remarkable how quickly some people go from "protect innocent life" to "women lose bodily autonomy the moment sperm shows up" without noticing the contradiction.
It truly is a shame you weren't aborted
@VitoComedy remember that time a woman on tiktok called christian churches asking if they could donate formula for her hungry baby? they all said no except for the muslim mosques
@_beaniebaby_03 "B-but there are surgeries so they can live normal lives," bitch, those surgeries are VERY EXPENSIVE and few countries have them and the waiting list is very long
@_beaniebaby_03 Your mom chose mercy over unbearable agony. That baby's only possible life would have been pure suffering. Anyone who'd force that torment just to feel morally superior isn't pro-life; they're pro-torture. That's not sanctity, that's sadism wearing a cheap halo.
@RamiThePaladin My mom was a woman who suffered the awful loss of a new pregnancy she had planned. She has raised 3 healthy children and does not regret her choices made towards the fetus and termination of her pregnancy. My family supports her and her decision regarding her own body.
My mom had a medical abortion before my brother or I were born. The fetus had developed with most of its organs on the outside of the body. At the time, it would have survived hours or maybe days in complete agony. This is why abortion should be accessible.
