@mcaliente21@secretsqrl123 Did it occur to you that most Americans believe he’s been betrayed too? Look at Trumps approval ratings on Ukraine if you need to convince yourself that Americans won’t be offended by this characterization.
@chosen_the43436@CBSNews Trump needs a scapegoat for the mess he’s made in the Middle East and he’s decided to punch down on Ukraine. He’s a bully and a coward. Trump is happy to sell America’s soul to try to save a nickel on diesel. It’s pathetic and shameful to any American with a conscious.
@suz34175@FordJohnathan5 Because we have morals? Principles? Because we don’t sell out allies. Because we don’t want to support a bloodthirsty dictator who murders his opponents and who started the largest European war since WWII as an act of territorial ambition? Just a start.
@DrewHuntsCoins@CARGO200uk Bullets, artillery shells, bombs , drones. It’s all basically the same thing, killing at a distance. The only difference is that we can now witness it. War is hell and it would be great if our leaders didn’t start them…but apparently that’s too much to ask.
@Joe8Justa@greggnunziata Putin in 2005 is very different than Putin in 2026 (you’ll remember that Putin recently murdered his political rival and started a war of aggression that’s resulted in 1.5m casualties). Hi Jintao did not install himself as dictator for life.
@PopTartThksgvin@RichardHanania If you knew many second and third generation immigrants you’d know they assimilate quickly and don’t change “the vibe”, whatever that means. A bunch of Indian kids at a football game should be considered a “win”, but the racists will complain anyway because they care about skin.
@JustinHackingHQ@RichardHanania There’s a large difference between demanding “perfection” to celebrate a person, vs celebrating someone when their primary contribution to history is fighting to uphold slavery.
@GMartin84942@RichardHanania Sure, but the founding fathers contributed positive things to the nation that are still worth celebrating. In most cases the same can’t be said of confederate generals.
@contraturn@leevalueroach Private credit may have its problems, but it’s almost all floating rate, so it generally benefits from rising rates (accept to the extent it hurts their borrowers).
@MitchWex@JTTSoundSystem@TheReal50972902@mattyglesias How would you know if he “actually” changed his views? And does it matter? It’s sort of like stated preference vs revealed preference. His actions now matter much more than his previous words.
@MitchWex@TheReal50972902@mattyglesias But doesn’t the fact that the police answer to him put him in an easy position to condemn them and strip them of power? You can absolutely be in power and strip the people below you of power (not arguing he SHOULD, but he absolutely COULD).
@MitchWex@TheReal50972902@mattyglesias But he could have defined “doing his job” here as condemning the police and trying to push for policies and laws to undercut them. Doing otherwise implies a change in ideological position, even if driven by theory colliding with reality.
@WallStAnonymous@mentalium_ LOL. High frequency trading is like the polar opposite of “sales”.
I think OP is confusing Jane Street with Stratton Oakmont or something.
@holisticbaddie 1) The price of natural diamonds has been plummeting as lab grown diamonds drag their price down. They don’t “hold their value”. Also, it’s not something you’re going to sell, so who cares about value?
2) Most jewelers can’t tell the difference. You generally need spectroscopy.
@dailydirtnap Also, not breaking.
Listen, I’m no CAD stan, but the price of CAD is the same as it was in 1986. Other than a temporary bump post GFL (which is more of an indictment of the US), there isn’t much of a story here unless you’re just trying to cherry pick to confirm your biases.
