Guess what we saw out the window this evening? A horseshoe vortex cloud! This type of cloud is a relatively uncommon occurrence. A horizontal vortex (spinning column of air) & a strong mountain wave deformed a cumulus cloud leading to the development of a horseshoe vortex cloud.

One of our new fire engines with a new paint design was on display at the #TMFPD Board of Fire Commissioners Meeting at the @washoecounty Complex. The apparatus will be put in service soon. Engines have about a 10-year useful life span. Check it out! #FireEngine 🇺🇸🚒

YOU DON'T SEE THIS OFTEN: Saturday night, the crew at #TMFPD Station 39 were awoken to the sound of a tipped over garbage bin. When daylight came, an agitated momma bear could be seen watching over the bin. With help from our firefighters, watch who escapes.👨‍🚒🐻
