@manaman_chhina@rwac48 To make them feel a part of the process...core contribution to the cause is minimal.. except if the services want to leverage them for something useful..
Broken "Reward and Punishment" structure. Framed by them, for their protection. Repeated failures, no price to pay. No other system exists like this. Need serious revamp if 2047 or 2147 milestones are to be achieved. Honestly, does anyone from the "affected parties" care? Am doubtful.
@Tejasvi_Surya Well done.. can we seek the same from all state govts and the central govt too? Very good thinking. We can atleast start with roads and highways. Once established, others can similarly follow. @BJP4India@INCIndia@AamAadmiParty
Despite many flaws, they still have "some vision, some plans and some intent"... no one else does.. truly, no other alternative. Can others pull up their socks and provide a plan for decent governance at the local level, improve urban governance to improve quality of life truly and comprehensively without over the top publicity orientation, reform police to meet minimal law enforcement and deterrent policing functions, truly focus on swachch bharat by implementing sustainable waste disposal measures, reduce govt in business, encourage through policy formulations more active private enterprise participation in defence, space and maritime domain, re-work fiscal policies to free Indian entrepreneurship and reform Central Group A cadre administration through reformed "Reward and Punishment" structure by an independent body of cross- domain experts, revamp oversight mechanism of large infra projects to ensure quality and reduce corruption in infra project implementation, continue clean water through taps, toilet initiative and improve primary education across the country as some basic, minimal expectations of this nation's citizens? @BJP4India@INCIndia@AamAadmiParty@narendramodi@AmitShah@RahulGandhi@priyankagandhi@ArvindKejriwal #AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #AnguishedTaxPayer #VotersAngst #LawEnforcement #Governance #Leadership #Administration
Agree, fully. Aim was to provoke the rest to action with a limited set of "citizens needs". Atleast come out with an action plan to get things done. TINA is a terrible situation to be in. For any thriving democracy, least of all for us with numerous challenges. But instability and internecine battles for small gains by the possible alt option, are also unacceptable. They aren't even thinking of giving battle. That's the sad part.
@abhilashtomy Agree... for the large community in Kochi, atleast South Kerala ( as northern part is looked after by Zamorin), Venduruthy is the "mother ship"... being beholden and awe struck by CO Venduruthy is natural... best to Mom..
@ndtv@dpradhanbjp@akhileshsharma1 How do you pay for that "responsibility"? There is no functional system where responsibility for failure does not have commensurate punishments.. words are cheap.. where is the action?
Because of badly skewed "Reward and Punishment" structure in the GOI, in favour of the bureaucrats and administrators. There is no deterrence nor price to pay for corruption and failures in staff work that is their sole remit and responsibility. Perks and advantages have been provided for but no accountability for failures. No system runs like this. We are paying the price and it is getting worse because juniors in the system also see what is happening and they all turn to the same way. Must change for better governance outcomes. @thekiranbedi you could lead the charge to change @IPS_Association and @IASassociation #AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #Administration #Governance #LawEnforcement #Leadership
Finally, it is all about pelf and money making for the decision makers and administrators' self interests; conflict of interest, religion and cultural ethos etc be damned, largely to be used as props, to take the self- serving agendas, forward. Period. Unfortunately, politics has descended to that low level. @BJP4India@INCIndia@AamAadmiParty #AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #Governance #Administration #Leadership
This podcast with two very sensible, wise and knowledgeable gents, points to serious weaknesses in our administrative and policing systems- some of which I have been repeatedly pointing to here- but should be more palatable and acceptable by @IPS_Association and @IASassociation coming as it does from among them and not an "outsider" like me. Imp points covered are selection processes devoid of any checks on aptitude and attitude, domain knowledge incl in Finance Ministry and other such departments that cry for domain experts but are denied, development of leadership and the current weaknesses in that aspect in our system, the upward and downward loyalties within forces that bear arms, need for 'veterans' of all services atleast to not fear speaking truth to power ... very useful for our senior political, administrative and police leadership to hear, comprehend and correct if we are to stop the slide in our governance. Excellent podcast. Thank you Sanjeev, Rohan and Atul. @BDUTT@ShekharGupta@TinyDhillon@LtGenDPPandey@Chopsyturvey #LawEnforcement #Administration #Governance #Leadership
@IndianGems_ Was he caught with these assets? Could he explain how he came to such assets? If yes, what happened to him? Broken "Rewards and Punishments" system kicked in? Suspended for six months with full pay and perks? Same story again and again.
How about accountability for a job poorly done? No price to pay? Does it happen in any other profession that you screw up big time and you are condoned? Why were the systems that are necessary to keep the examination system (a critical support system for our next gen?) foolproof, not tested/ evaluated with due diligence in manner expected? Why do the bureaucrats whose job it is, core remit, to implement policies, permitted to get away? And the minister with leadership responsibility, too? That's the point. We can't imprison them, we can't fine them, we can't make them pay for inefficiency, only option is to seek resignation. For the trauma and pain caused to lakhs of students, that is a small price to pay.
Indeed. Only, history is replete with "brothers" like you two, plunging knives into each others' backs and beheading each other. We shall sit by the side and watch. Just restrict all activities to your respective territories. Don't mess with us. Live and let live, peacefully. Else.
Agree with your views. Yes, age and profession have its decorum and norms. Use of first name is only after the older person in the interaction, has consented. Brings in the formality that is essential in professional relationships. Use of first name invariably leads to unnecessary and unacceptable informality in the equation. This emerged in the US which used to use "sir" while we used "uncle" or "Ji" but has been shelved by a lot of younger ones most times without permission. Relationships cannot be defined by one, both have to accept their relationship "status".
@MILVETERAN@jatinsingh100@BinnyHora Different HQs...VCOAS would bid farewell from Army HQs and probably senior most service Chief as member COSC from COSC/IDS...no problems... CDS may be present but honours would be done by senior most Chief present.. I should think..
Process of "Reward and Punishment" in GoI is broken.. or deliberately so done because the system was created by the same bunch of people, to protect themselves first. Hence they get away with repeated crimes or even failure to perform efficiently.. and so, such stories continue to emerge..
