To pull a dog away from a lamppost is akin to seizing a scholar in the British Museum by the scruff of his neck and dragging him away from his studies.
France banned acetamiprid in 2018. An attempt to unban it was just shot down by its top court backed by France’s national research body, its health agency, 22 medical societies + many scientific societies. But not this employee of Bayer which sells #neonics including acetamiprid.
@sgoldswo@OborneTweets Low quality farmland? The 17000 acres of farmland planned for solar parks in Norfolk is highly productive Grade 1 and Grade 2 agricultural land. Better to target rooftops, car parks and brownfield land.
"Anyone who has served in the Israeli Forces in Gaza since October 2023 should be considered a suspect in relation to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of genocide"

Why did our ruling class not invest in decarbonising faster to avoid this acceleration in deadly heatwaves that scientists warned would come? Because of the capitalist law of value.
Capital invests in what is most profitable to capital, rather than what is most necessary for humanity, so our ruling class keeps ploughing investment into fossil fuels and SUVs, while we get far too little in renewables and public transit, even while the world burns around us.
We have more than enough capacity (labour, factories, technology) to address the climate crisis, but as long as capital controls investment and production we are prevented from doing it.
We are trapped by the capitalist law of value, living in a miserable shadow of the world we could have.
Madness. Putting solar panels over car parks, as is required in France, makes every kind of sense. It generates clean power, provides shade to the cars, and protects countryside from solar farms. But the Government has inexplicably rejected it.

Why am I not surprised that the issuer of the dodgy dossier hasn't replied to this challenge? @OborneTweets has real integrity and an impressive record of truth telling in his statements over the years. @campbellclaret not so much.
Good evening @campbellclaret. You said during the
@MishalHusain show that my book, the Rise of Political Lying, is "so debunked and so discredited" (17.24 onwards). Can you point to the evidence which supports your assertion. Thank you, Peter.
In Britain, you can lie your way to Downing Street, advocate collective punishment, arm a genocide, facilitate an illegal war - and the media will call you a decent man.
The UK could have stopped a genocidal massacre in Sudan’s El Fasher but failed to act over concerns it would anger the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a top war crimes expert has told Parliament.
Human rights investigator Nathaniel Raymond said he provided the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) with intelligence for more than two years warning that the fall of El Fasher would unleash “one of the single largest mass casualty events of the 21st century”.
With his warnings ignored, more than 60,000 people were killed when the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) stormed the Northern Darfur state capital last October. The UN has since said the massacre showed “hallmarks of genocide”.
Addressing parliament’s International Development Committee on Tuesday, Raymond said his team from the Yale School of Public Health believed the UK was its “best hope” for stopping the siege. But his team’s warnings were ignored despite two dozen private meetings with the office of then-foreign secretary David Lammy.
He told MPs that Lammy’s officials prioritised the government’s “economic, security, and diplomatic relationships with the UAE” above “the genocidal slaughter of tens of thousands of civilians living in El Fasher and its surrounding communities”.
As the sole penholder for Sudan at the United Nations Security Council, the UK is responsible for driving international response to the conflict.
“They told me that the UK was facing significant private pressure behind the scenes from the UAE limiting its ability to affect the situation,” Raymond told MPs.
“Direct sanctions against UAE officials, at minimum, could have been used to interdict the clandestine UAE pipeline of advanced weaponry flowing to the RSF,” he added.
A UN report published Tuesday found that the RSF is responsible for 87% of verified incidents of rape and sexual slavery in Sudan, including el-Fasher, since the outbreak of violence in 2023.
“The tragedy of El Fasher shows that advanced technology and analysis can provide leaders essential decision support information, but satellite data and computing power cannot by itself generate either political will or moral courage,” said Raymond.
During the action at Filton, Palestine Action activists destroyed several of these quadcopter drones, which otherwise would of been used to commit more death and destruction in Gaza.
For doing so, they've been sentenced as terrorists.
BLOCKED
The self-proclaimed champion of ‘free speech absolutism’ has begun blocking Defend Our Juries content on the grounds of “terrorism”.
A number of videos in which people vocally oppose genocide and support Palestine Action have been censored on Elon Musk’s X.
@DrTracyHackett@thefoodbabe No fan of Biden but his administration asked the Supreme Court not to take up this issue. The Trump administration not only asked the Court to take it up but then pleaded with the Court to rule in Bayer's favour. And just to help things along Trump issued his glyphosate EO.

Dear @EnvAgency.
In February this year, after 4 years of asking you to look after the Aldersbrook, I led a team of volunteers to do your job for you & clean out tonnes of silt & leaves, as well as hundreds of bags of rubbish. Through the effort of community volunteers & donations, & at zero cost to the taxpayer, we turned a forgotten silted up ditch back into a river again.
Last nights intense rain storm showed why our actions are the very definition of “strengthening water resilience”. A huge amount of rain fell in a short time, but the restored section of the Aldersbrook has been able to hold 100’s of thousands of litres more water, stopping this water running into the Roding, & thereby *reducing* local flood risk. The first photograph below is of the Aldersbrook after the rains this morning- a big contrast to the area before we did the work.
Perhaps more importantly, this water, instead of running straight off into the Roding & hence the sea is now being held in the Aldersbrook & gradually released so it can be used by nature. It is feeding marshes, trees & wildlife, topping up groundwater & helping to reduce our flood/drought cycle. If you want to strengthen water resilience, we need thousands more projects like the Aldersbrook around the country.
So the question I ask you, Environment Agency, is why you are threatening me with two years imprisonment, rather than offering to meet & discuss how we can work together to restore the Roding & its tributaries, which could become a blueprint for you cooperating with local river guardians nationwide?
For everyone who says countries don't need to act because a court hasn't found Israel guilty of genocide, here's Francesca Albanese explaining the requirements of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in under 20 seconds.
One of the killings involved a ten day old baby being shot by an Israeli sniper in broad daylight whilst the baby was being breastfed : an independent UN Commission says Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza, and war crimes in the occupied West Bank
“They knew exactly who Mona Khalil was.
They knew the bright orange house in Mansouri, south Lebanon. They knew it was not a military site, not a command center, not a battlefield position. It was one of the most recognizable symbols of environmental conservation on Lebanon's southern coast; a sanctuary dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles and preserving life.”

BREAKING: Keir Starmer Resigns
Media sold Starmer as 'forensic, decent & capable' PM. He was NEVER that as we made clear yrs ago:
"Starmer is a LIAR in charge of a brutal, authoritarian, inhuman political machine but you wouldn't know about that if you read or watched UK media"
