@concreted0g@cammakespace I think you can vary how much ink it puts down quite a bit, so its only a ballpark - but still gives a good indicator that the cost is very reasonable even if it is 100% coverage (and many jobs will be like 2%)
@concreted0g@cammakespace So a 100% black print across the whole bed will use 1.02cc, which works out as roughly 30 pence per output. Sounds like a bargain to me
@concreted0g@cammakespace News just in: Coverage wise if you were to print the whole bed 280x305mm with a standard print using 40% coverage of ink then the total usage is 0.27cc and if 100% 1.02cc
@concreted0g@cammakespace So I guess to correct - the combo of Roland UV Flatbed, Vinyl Roland printer/cutter and Sawgrass sublimation is likely to give a really obvious way to do most things plus options for experimentation of what works best in specific cases - I think we have a solution! thanks!
@concreted0g@cammakespace And you are right, I think actually for a lot of things you could use the flatbed UV - just need a bit of experimentation. I think some of the reasons they don’t show bottles/clothes is H&S (inks not tested)
@concreted0g@cammakespace The vinyl printer/cutter heat transfer just feels very much like thin paper stuck on something, the sublimation limits the choice of object - presumably there is something better than either in terms of results/objects? (think Roland guy mentioned but don’t remember)
@concreted0g@cammakespace And the Roland ones are massive, so something the size of sg500 or sg1000 looks ideal - we already have t-shirt press’s would just be mug press we’d need
@concreted0g@cammakespace I’d prefer to spend more on the machine if it reduces the cost of consumables for the user (especially if you get higher quality with a better machine too!) - are the sawgrass sg500 consumables good value or is there better options that would be higher quality/cheaper consumables
@concreted0g@cammakespace I think it may even makes sense for the vinyl cutter/printer to be dedicated to stickers, and then have something dedicated to sublimation for mugs/t-shirts etc - keep it simple/obvious and get better results? But not really looked in to the sublimation options
@concreted0g@cammakespace What is your sublimation setup? People will immediately ask “can I print mugs” (not ideal on UV flatbed), and the vinyl transfer is not that nice for anything but the smallest tshirt logos etc as it feels rubbish if too big
@concreted0g@cammakespace Lots more where that came from if you need to dig in to my head - was a very useful trip, but in reality probably only wrote a bit of my learnings down. Shout if you have questions
@genmon Thank you for reminding me of this. It looks like it later became “river, roads and rail” with much more graphical tiles, but love this original design - especially now I know what it represents!
