Said it before, not only this hurts Vancouver economy, hurts men’s & women’s soccer programs & development. Even the people who’s livelihoods writing / producing content etc etc, ironic it’s the rich always need more #VWFC
Greg Kerfoot sat back cashing expansion cheques while Major League Soccer ballooned to 30 teams… now that the tap’s slowing, he wants to cash out.
Only spent when it was time to sell. Vancouver fans deserve way better.
Vancouver Whitecaps are at peak attendance
City has offered them extremely valuable land for a new stadium+
Province has offered them free rent and concession revenue
The only pressure point is the owners desire to cash out while value is at its highest around the World Cup
Vancouver Whitecaps fans stage a #SaveTheCaps campaign launch tonight, amid the rising possibility of relocation stemming from the club's current sale and stadium situation.
Government pressure will be needed as well, as it was in 2018 with Columbus.
Right now the Whitecaps are being held emotionally hostage by the city, league, club, and province as a stadium agreement has yet to be reached and relocation becomes a more realistic. Keep the Whitecaps in Vancouver. Solutions must be found #savethecaps
While I’m rage tweeting I just want to point out how much I enjoy the Vancouver Whitecaps and BC Place. This is my favorite atmosphere in the league. A club that feels this much like a community should be something that MLS celebrates. Instead they’re trying to destroy it
Hey @thesoccerdon, the league cannot afford to lose the Vancouver market. It would be an absolute disaster for @MLS
Just look at Atlanta decline. If you think this league can thrive without one of the most passionate markets in North America you might be in for a rude awakening
The future of the Vancouver Whitecaps in Vancouver still feels uncertain, and this club means a lot to people across the city and throughout BC.
The Whitecaps are a big part of Vancouver’s sporting culture and community. Show your support: https://t.co/f2fBJhdxgm ⚽💙
#VWFC Whitecaps supporters and sports fans in this province should be very, very concerned about Caps being sold and taken to another city. Time for BC's Premier @Dave_Eby to step infront of a camera and discuss why PAVCO can't get this across the line.
67 years old Jose Mourinho beating this Real Madrid team with Benfica is bigger than anything Pep has achieved. Mourinho represents everything that is most exciting and true about football.
Prem is so unwatchable nowadays, bunch of setpieces and long throws.
No football idea, no tactics while billions being spent, net negative league to the whole sport.
I’m just saying, we used to have politicians and business people work together to build big things. And aren’t we supposed to be diversifying our economy now? The PNE property needs to be completely reimagined.
