@SonjaFade This totally makes sense. I also had a big problem with avoiding things I wasn't immediately good at, probably because striving for perfection was so heavily reinforced at every turn 🙃
@altworldly @ExJWCaleb TBH I've also learned that things like nail biting, picking at your skin, biting your cheeks/lips, pulling your hair, and other body repetitive behaviors can be associated with ADHD and kind of a form of stimming . . . which explains some things 😅
@SonjaFade Something I took away from leading "paint and sip" events was that anyone can learn to make art with the right instruction, even if it isn't a skill that comes naturally to them! Also, it doesn't have to be "good," as long as you're enjoying making the art 😊🎨🖌️
Things I say I'll do during therapy:
1) Do coursework in dedicated chunks of 20-30 minutes with a break in between to avoid getting sucked in and ignoring other needs
2) Use reminders, like alarms or grayscale mode on devices, to stick to that plan and avoid staying up late...
3) Eat a piece of toast at 8 AM, make a tea and leave it steeping on the counter for 3 hours, and not eat lunch until 2 PM
4) Stay up late Friday night doing an assignment that was due Wednesday
5) Send an "ooops" message to my peeps when I'm in full overwhelm spiral mode 😬
A comment thread on FB recently said that to make a TV series faithful to #LordOfTheRings lore it would be 250 seasons long and have so many songs that it would have to be a musical. I'm 100% on board for this endless musical, and recommend we get @Lin_Manuel on the line for it!
