@cineworld the lack of mask enforcement for a full 7pm screening of Spider-Man is shameful. There’s a new covid variant and half the audience have been queuing for food unmasked and not a lanyard in sight. I have never felt so unsafe in a cinema which is usually my sanctuary.

Anyway, reading took a back seat over the past few months but I just reread Viscount (Bridgerton #2) for the first time in about 12 years ago and enjoyed it more than I remembered! It was always my least fave but it’s crept up now. I love a perfect enemies to lovers trope 🥰

I don’t think I follow any transphobes on here, nor do I read transphobic books. I just want to read and talk about intersectional and queer books without seeing stuff like that in my notifications.

Once again tempted to delete this book-centric twitter because the recommend tweets I’m seeing in my notifications are frequently transphobic. Not sure why twitter feels the need to keep showing me these, I’m not following them and I always click that I don’t want to see them.

The Mercies is one of the single most beautifully written novels I have ever had the joy of experiencing.
It has made me weep, and made me viscerally angry, the kind of white hot anger you feel deep within your bones.

also! I wanted to race through it but I couldn’t because I NEEDED to savour the writing style. Gorgeously rich and atmospheric and I could feel *everything*. It’s going to stick with me for a long time and I need a while to decompress before I move onto my February books!

just finished #TheMercies and you can read my review @ goodreads but basically: it floored me. It’s all I can think of. I had such a visceral, emotional, furious reaction to it, I cried once I put it down and I can’t remember the last time that happened. Thanks @Kiran_MH!

my friend got it for me thinking it ticked a lot of my interests (it did) and I was excited about it but I didn’t know it would hit me this hard. The red hot fury I feel reading about witch trials, interspersed with the softest, most tender, precarious queer love story? 11/10
