Hi everyone! Take a look at the shared vision for technology I created for my school in GCPS after reviewing peer reviewed research on technology, gathering input from stakeholders, and reviewing national and state technology plans.

@k12techtalkpod I believe this is totally dependent on grade level. As a 6th grade teacher, I do not believe cell phones belong in schools. Not all students have cell phones yet, so they really cannot be utilized for educational reasons, so they are a distraction.

Story bird is such a great writing technology tool that allows students to create their own stories and share them with people outside their school community. #MakeLearningFunThroughTechnology
@untilnextstop At our school itโs not a respect thing, itโs an identity thing. We donโt allow anything on heads because if anything happens, we need to be able to identify students on camera. Itโs safety.
In the world of technology, how can we guarantee student engagement in technology-driven lessons? So many teachers avoid the use of technology in the classroom because it is harder to manage off-task behavior.
Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing what not to do. But if you focus on the rest, then your focus is on what to do.
This is why synchronous meetings are so important during a time like this, even just to check in. Students get overwhelmed with constant online assignments and no direction. Just being there to answer questions is helpful. #READ3400#GGCSOE
So amazing this teacher had the opportunity to give their students some much needed one on one learning. This is really above and beyond. #GGCSOE#READ3400
One Jeffco teacher worked with students individually over video chats because online group discussions with multiple people using sign language and an inability for the camera to focus on the right person grew confusing. #EdColo https://t.co/xATUyBUc0A
During stressful times, most of us could use something to celebrate. April 2 is International Childrenโs Book Day, which seems like the perfect thing. How will you honor the day?
I'm so excited to be a part of this article along with @chrisemdin and @triciaebarvia There is work to do and there really isn't time for us to stay in the background. We act in our classrooms and curricula. #CARBTE#DisruptTexts#EduColor

@pernilleripp Teachers that find reading important will find time for their students to do reading of choice. The 10th grade class I am student teaching has 10 minutes of independent reading every day. #GGCSOE#READ3400
@pernilleripp I heard so many horror stories about how awful middle school students are and how they would NEVER want to teach middle school. My first experience was with 7th grade and those kids were awesome. They worked hard and still cared about their teachers. #READ3400#GGCSOE
@TColemanReads I think thatโs a good place to draw the line. Sometimes really good books have a slow start so you want to make a real attempt before total abandonment.
I agree with this. It is okay to abandon a book if it is not enjoyable. I read somewhere that successful people would never waste their time reading a book they do not enjoy. #READ3400#GGCSOE
