@petersagal My smartphone offered me this story https://t.co/Ja741BzJHf any the only reason I clicked on it was because I thought, this guy looks just like that Peter Sagal.
@Nerd4Cities@TheGattoniCelli@EllaRayKondrat So, all lanes of I-66 inside the Beltway are HOT, however, this segment's congestion pricing came after the road was exclusively HOV for decades. Sure, congestion pricing discourages traffic, but - in peak direction during rush hour - this used to be a carpool-only highway!
@EllaRayKondrat@TheGattoniCelli I love the theory of congestion pricing, but the local I-66/I-495 situation rubs me the wrong way. I'd love to see data showing HOT lanes actually aren't an enabler for exurban commuters who didn't have the option of express lanes before.
@EllaRayKondrat@TheGattoniCelli My daily chauffeuring is between $5 to $20 per trip and (anecdotally that’s $1/minute saved). I live locally so I can take free local roads and be guaranteed heavier traffic, or pay for express, but it feels like I'm being gouged when I'm late to a job interview or dr appt.
@EllaRayKondrat@TheGattoniCelli As implemented here (I-66 and I-495), it means at least two more highway lanes and doubling the exits/interchanges (bc congestion pricing generally only applies to express lanes). That's a huge investment of road infrastructure and much more complex way finding for drivers.
@arvi1000 It would actually be kind of cool if officials had Mastodon accts the way they have email accts. Having an official email/Mastodon address is such a conventional verification scheme, not like the $8/month the kids pay nowadays.
@arvi1000 I follow a few safe street advocates over there, some are even local to me. Local officials/staff, none that I'm aware. Doesn't seem to have the critical mass of utility and crowd wisdom yet in subjects other than tech (e.g. infosec).
What's the downside to choosing the faster speed for the same price, @verizonfios? The pricing doesn't appear to be promotional and I can't find the firstborn transfer clause.
@sil I've been using Zoho free tier. The only hiccup has been manually configuring spam safeguards (DMARC, etc) via editing RX records and/or setting up 3rd-party monitoring. Make sure the paid offerings ensure your outgoing email does not go to a spam folder.
