An old classic called Anscombe’s Quartet says best about the pitfalls of statistics. Don’t wholly rely on your descriptive statistics, always plot your data to identify the patterns. Learn more what each dataset convey when plotted in the thread.
2. Dataset 1 has a clean & well-fitting linear relationship.
Dataset 2 has a predictable non-linear relationship.
Dataset 3 has linear distribution but calculated regression is thrown off by an outlier.
Dataset 4 has one outlier which produces a high correlation coefficient.
