Actually seen in a book group:
"Can someone spoil the book for me and tell me everything I'm too impatient to learn by actually reading the damn book - I like to know exactly what I'm getting into when I read a book."
I don't understand. Does this person even like reading??
I think 'author' should be reserved for people who have published actual books, not just articles. And if you want to compile those articles into a book, go ahead! You're now an author.
I hate it when people call themselves authors and then I can't find the book they've written.
I get that the definition of 'author' includes writers of articles, not just books, but I disagree.
It's like the difference in being a clasically trained singer and an opera singer. You can sing opera arias, but you are not an opera singer unless you've been in an opera.
I can't believe the amount of times I see requests in my book groups for literal Mary Sues. Being in the trad pub YA world for so long gave me a visceral reaction to this character type, but they're actually a really popular request outside of that community!
I hate adults that are like, 'I spend all my money on special edition books tee hee I'm so broke/in debt!'
Seriously I know one person who is $20k in debt because of books. BOOKS.
While they are wonderful they are not THAT important! Have some shelf control.
I KNEW something was dodgy when they'd never say what it was they were selling.
They were trying to lure in more salespeople rather than trying to sell the product with promises of minimal working hours and financial freedom.
Selling fucking water.
I bloody knew it! The couple who boasted about living their best life making online sales with high ticket items but ended up divorced and in debt were part of a MLM scam!!
Books have always been a major part of my life. My parents read to me every night, and once I could read for myself, I never stopped (except for 6 months after completing a literarure degree).
Why does it feel so terrible to forget someone’s name?
It will be someone I’ve known for years, but in the moment I need their name, my brain is just “nope, not gonna give you that information.”
It’s seems completely out of my control, but still makes me feel like a bad person.
I felt the same way adopting my first kitten. They just let me, a person in my mid-twenties, walk out with a kitten WITHOUT interrogating me, scouring my financials, providing proof of address, and without me needing to convince anyone I could, in fact, be responsible.
My neighbors just brought home a fresh-born baby and man they really just let you leave the hospital with a living, breathing human that’s smaller than a ham!
