imo one of the most important things abt the system is that it's impossible for a child to grow/learn there. ur autonomy is totally stripped and ur NEVER given tools on how to handle stuff. i was in an open unit and seriously consider a lot of it to b state sanctioned child abuse

i was in the system 16-17 (& social worker visits until 18) and it's functionally designed for kids to fail upon adulthood. they take TOTAL control over your life for however long and upon adulthood you're dead to them
