At the moment, I’m slowly getting into Boyzone’s 90s discography and I have to admit that they’ve made some really good songs. I’ve noticed that Stephen Gately has a voice similar to Michael Jackson’s and was apparently his idol too. And he even got to meet him!

It must be called out.

One of the producers, @jamesgoldston, previously produced the 2003 documentary Living With Michael Jackson. Yes, that documentary. With now-disgraced Martin Bashir. The one that led to the 2005 trial, and eventually Jackson’s death.

Does that mean this new docuseries is compromised? Not exactly.

But it doesn’t mean it isn’t, either.

Also: I’m having a hard time believing @netflix takes any route other than what they’re promising: “a strict historical account” where viewers decide. We’ve seen what years of all-white productions about Michael Jackson result in. The slant, sensationalism, and fatigue is real.

So the question is: do they finally take a different route?
