I literally only post 0-1 times per day and it’s just these recaps (follow me, pookie)
I’ll never be able to separate sports and people. To me, they’re indelibly intertwined. When my father passed, I’d reflect on the times I’d felt most alive… sometimes it was those mundane moments on a hot September Saturday morning…. He’s out mowing the grass, and I’m bringing him a cup of ice water out for him. He stops, hugs me. He finishes the grass, and he’d throw me football passes in the backyard. Just me and my dad. Then we’d go inside and turn on the Ohio State game. That was our special bond.
I grew up really blessed. There was a moment in time I’d wake up early and prepare for my games, have my dad on the sidelines, compete with my teammates, and then get in the car, talk with my dad—he’d have the Ohio State game on the radio and I’d hear Paul Keels voice… we’d meet family at Pizza Hut for lunch, then to my grandparents house for the evening… still remember the aromas and peace and love I could feel at my grandparents house… beautiful Saturday evening and I’ve got Reggie Bush vs Notre Dame (2005) on in the background. My grandparents were Notre Dame fans and telling me their stories of how they’d go to games…. And then after sunset going outside and chasing the fireflies… just beautiful days with the most beautiful people. It’s spending time with those you love most that’s… everything. The people, the love, the care, the laughs, the smile, the joys, the stories… that’s what’s special.
I think of the time I listened to stories from my grandfather during the Great Depression, and how he’d go outside with his brothers and just toss a baseball around with them. And then here’s him at 90 outside playing catch with me.
I have so many memories… I remember around 2005 riding home from basketball practice. I hear LeBron and the Cavs vs the pistons on the radio, my mom stops and gets me Taco Bell. I get the nachos and cheese. I asked my mom for two cheese sauces but they said they’d charge for it. I told my mom “oh never mind” but she insisted on paying that extra 50 cents for me. Little stuff. Not even about sports.
But when you’re young, you’re dreaming, and you’re dreaming big. You grow to love sports. The people. The friends. Family. Strangers. Team dinners, picnics, birthdays. You love competing. Board games, late night call of duty runs with your friends from across the country. It’s the people.
When I was in a YMCA after school program my counselor Steve would run and play basketball with me everyday for hours. Probably wasn’t making much. But he gave his all to caring for us kids. Gave us advice, shared stories of his sports days—even his first time making the local newspaper. Everything these days is so uptight, algorithmic, and corporate, it’s like people forget about the being human part. But it’s things like that you never forget. Even if the world isn’t solvable, you can make the world better for those around you. And that’s something you learn. And that’s something you want to fight for.
I’ve met so many people through sports. Talked to so many. Shared stories, time, memories. I’ve been incredibly blessed. I’ll never not care about the people.
Those experiences and memories are ingrained into my soul and DNA. This world is largely, “fuck you, I got mine.” My mindset is “fuck you, we’re getting ours.” I want others to experience the blessings I have. I want to fight for a world where those dreams and experiences are possible for anyone. And if we cant solve the world’s problems, I’d at least want to spend the remaining days I have left here on this Earth making it better for everyone around me.
I really don’t think people understand their gravity of situations like this so let me walk you through it
The NCAA multiple times denied his request for a 6th year of eligibility. Which was the right thing to do he has had his time in college football now it’s time to move on
The part where this gets really fucked up and sticky is the fact that his council then took this case to some fucking Ole Miss dick sucking judge in Oxford, Mississippi to essentially block a decision that the NCAA handed down
Like wtf 🤬 do you guys see how problematic that is? And why the NCAA essentially has 0️⃣ power. They hand down a ruling and because you don’t like that ruling you get to run to some boot, licking circuit judge in whatever county you want that can block a NCAA ruling.
College football is dead
BREAKING - A man is going viral after translating the song Bad Bunny performed during the halftime show, and however bad you think it sounds in Spanish, just wait until you hear the lyrics in English.
I want to share this pic from Taco Bell I like before social media algorithms make the mundane invisible within the next 5 years.
I don’t have an optimistic feeling about the trajectory social media is heading. It’s becoming increasingly commercialized, increasingly curated for engagement, and oversaturated by ai to where nothing really feels social or real anymore.
It was always heading this way, but it seems clearer that many of the apps are optimized slop. Everything feels the same. Everyone talks the same. Same music. Everything…. But if it steers people back into public spaces irl 🤷🏻♂️ all for it. Idk.
I have no idea what news sources will look like in 5-10 years, or who will be trusted.
Maybe I’m wrong/cynical. But the most fun I have on here is talking with individuals 🤷🏻♂️that’s the coolest part .. idk I’m tired
Imagine breaking into Shai’s house thinking he’s not there and he confronts you by falling over and you get attempted murder tacked on plus two shots, his ball.
Stefon diggs getting cardi b pregnant while being on a boat this summer doing drugs with white women is why he was always the one to “least likely to date my daughter “ during the locker room videos Lmao
