You cannot defend the collapsed healthcare system in Zimbabwe while attempting to insult South Africans, when the reality is that 70% of women giving birth at Musina Hospital in Limpopo are Zimbabwean.

If South Africans were as cruel as the regime in Harare, countless Zimbabweans would already be with their ancestors.
I do not know what your issue with South Africa is, but at the very least, you should show respect and gratitude for a country that has carried us for decades.

Insulting South Africa, which has given Zimbabweans safety, jobs, and comfort to raise their families, is not only irresponsible, it also puts people like you living there in harm’s way.

Every year, 2,500 women die giving birth in Zimbabwe. Over 3,000 die from breast cancer alone because Zimbabwe has not had a single functioning radiotherapy machine for more than three years.
Today, Zimbabweans must travel to South Africa and Zambia for treatment.

The biggest hospital in Zimbabwe still relies on just one maternity theatre, built in 1977 by Ian Smith.
He built two, both collapsed under ZANUPF, and it took Standard Bank, a South African company, to refurbish the one theatre still working to save women from dying. That is the reality. I could go on, but I have a conference to attend.

So before you point fingers at South Africa, remember it is carrying the burden of Zimbabwe’s failed state on its back.

I think holding South Africa accountable based on the help we gave them during their struggle is pointless and unproductive.

South Africans were prosecuting a struggle, while we are stealing public money meant for hospitals and then attempting to blackmail South Africans on account of what was a global struggle against apartheid.

I am against xenophobia, but I also understand the economic pain of Limpopo having to carry our medical load not because we are at war, but because we are stealing our own money.

If a neighbour steals money meant for his family’s upkeep and blows it in bars, that irresponsible neighbour has no moral right to remind the neighbour looking after his kids that 40 years ago his family housed the neighbour’s family.
It is the height of irresponsibility!

You cannot demand gratitude for yesterday’s political solidarity against apartheid while robbing your people blind today.

My view:

Floyd Shivambu needs to take a rest.
He made terrible mistakes and should take full responsibility, instead of continuing to claim that joining MK was the best political decision he ever made. It was one of the worst.

South Africans, including prominent figures, publicly warned him that he was making a mistake, but he refused to listen. Listening is a skill and a gift.

MK is a family party; it is Zuma’s party, and a political joke that survives because of the dysfunction of South African politics. Insulting Julius Malema and the political party (EFF) he served as Vice President of for ten years, while also insulting Jacob Zuma and his family party, only makes Floyd unattractive to potential collaborators.

The fact that he cannot see the harm in visiting the fake Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiri, despite the overwhelming evidence of the suffering caused, reveals a heart hardened by arrogance and a mind utterly disconnected from the agony endured by Bushiri’s victims. Victims who are South African!

While those innocent souls live in fear, pain, and shattered trust after Bushiri’s escape from justice, Floyd chose to turn a blind eye, deepening the wounds and mocking their torment.
Such callousness is not just out of touch, it is a betrayal of leadership itself.

If Floyd truly wants to lead, he must first learn humility, accountability, and empathy, because without these, he will remain a lost voice echoing in a void of broken trust and, to quote President Mbeki’s book, a dream deferred.

If you can mute your feelings about Malema/EFF, Zuma/MK, ANC & all its leaders & zone in on the moral ethos and personal constitution of Floyd Shivambu then let's debate: Our identity, red lines, moral boundaries are not determined by who other people are or what they do. We are who we are and what we do, ALWAYS, regardless of what others do. We are our patterns of behaviour and the silent internal voice that makes us adopt those behaviours.

Reminder: this is not a critique of Zuma, Malema, Ramaphosa, and their parties. It is about Floyd and the moral code that governs his impulses. He was the DP of the EFF for TEN years!, a party that he now calls a "cult." He said, "The EFF is the only defender of our constitution." When did it become a cult?

Floyd graduated with 2 postgraduate degrees during that time. Nothing he learnt made him identify the "cult" in those many years? Instead, he was an active participant, torchbearer, AND tactician, fully embedded in the "cult." He swore, fought, screamed in defence of the 'cult." A cult doesn't exist with only a leader. It needs lieutenants & high command officers before you even get to members of the cult. You decide where Floyd was positioned. He now assumes a passive voice when talking about the EFF. That reflects a moral code.

And then he joined MK and the man he spent 10 years exposing, challenging and litigating against as a memeber of the "cult." During the 2016 No Confidence Vote into Zuma's presidency, Floyd put him in the same category as
"Post colonial disasters, imposters & thugs" who turned "Africa into a dark continent." This is a fundamental accusation! But he still went to join Zuma's party and claimed: "We were misled about Zuma." Who misled him? He takes no responsibility for his choices and cunningly adopts the Royal "We." This reflects a moral code.

At Zuma's birthday celebrations he said Zuma was "the most knowledgeable political leader." 2 months later, Zuma is now "old & gullible?"

Now you will say, "we can change our minds." Yes, when new facts present themselves. There are no new facts. The people he followed are still who they are. They are who they have ALWAYS been. He goes and stays and goes again because his moral code is contaminated. A 180°-degree turn on fundamental core issues is not merely "changing your mind" ESPECIALLY when you do so without owning up to your own actions. Instead, it is someone else's fault.

Floyd doesn't merely change his opinions. We change opinions on a variety of things. But at play here is a man who blows with the wind. If we are to be generous, we could say he has poor judgement on SIGNIFICANT issues. Bad attribute for a leader!

But if we are to be truthful, then it is all of the above AND a decomposed personal and moral constitution.
