The people you love will hurt you.
Not because they're malicious, not because they don't love you.
They'll hurt you because they're humans, they're learning & there are many things, including you, happening on their life's journey.
What they do after will tell you how to move.
@_lanvell You’re absolutely right. One of The starting problems is that fatness is viewed as, or as sign of, some moral failing. The rest flows from there.
But what I’ll say is that 🇯🇲, like many other countries, is struggling to achieve good health for its population because we have a sick population.
Even if we had the best hospitals and health centres and the best equipment we'd still be grappling with the high NCD burden.
When newly diagnosed with PCOS (PMOS), there are some baseline tests that should be done by the doc to assess risk:
Sugar and insulin levels
Metabolic screen
Scan for endometrial thickness
Assessment of fertility desires to determine best approach to regularising your cycles
Somebody just coughed and me hear somebody ask “ah wha dat Honda virus?” And smaddy else sey “noooo ah nuh dat it name ah hand and mouth virus!” … I love being Jamaican!
When I consultat with a patient newly diagnosed with PCOS- I always take the time to go through what causes it and the implications for her health now and in the future.
Risk of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, infertility, endometrial cancer.
I'm glad for the name change #PMOS
Re: the leg billboard vs Redemption Song
We respond differently to someone in a swimsuit vs in their underwear.
Why? Because context matters.
The context behind the Emancipation Park statue is very different from the billboard.
Abeg. Stop with the false equivalencies.
@not_achappa@FujuPhoenix You’re free to be equally outraged by all the things that offend you.
I don’t know if you get to decide how everybody interprets everything.
Or to decide that your view is universal.
@not_achappa@FujuPhoenix However, we are selective about everything because humans have unique experiences that shape their responses.
So all outrage will be selective.
We select our words, clothes, partners, even our usernames based on what does and does not appeal to us.
There’s no universality.
Happy 66th birthday to the legendary Merlene Ottey!! 🤩🎉
During a career spanning over 30 years, 1990 was particularly memorable for Merlene, as she remained unbeaten in all her races throughout the entire year, including the Berlin IAAF Grand Prix event.
A true champion.

Maybe you’re ’naturally talkative’
Maybe you’ve learned to keep up a constant stream of chatter because people judge & project on to silence & that makes u feel unsafe.
People’s judgment or displeasure w. you isn’t automatically a threat.
You can be silent and safe.
I feel sorry for Netflix era kids. They will never know the high stakes adrenaline of running to the bathroom/fridge/bedroom in a single ad break, with the beckoning call of a sibling screaming “It’s ONNNNNN” to send you hurdling over furniture to get back in time.
@bluewmist How lightly they treat survival costs.
Things like saying “just save a little each month” or “everyone can afford healthy food if they budget” show they’ve never had to choose between rent and groceries.
