@JoeShakour The call is to “sober-mindedness” the greek word for sober is dealing with the clarity of the mind not staying away from the bottle. Also I’m not a drinker; I grew up in a probation believing home, but I have had drinks. And one thing is true you aren’t drunk by the taste.
@JoeShakour Side note: Proverbs 23 21 is the reason I pair the two: “For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.”
@JoeShakour I know tweets are limited and I probably should listen to your sermon. But what do you do with the Bible’s teachings in the New Testament that use the words moderation with alcohol. The tweet sounds like you’d prefer that word be thrown away?
@JoeShakour The only reason I ask is because moderation is a biblical principle and teaching not to be thrown away. I feel like so many people run towards abstinence with alcohol but never practice moderation in areas of their life that the Bible clearly defines as sin.
@haleyfanning_ That all being said, I respected the way you didn't throw stones, and even affirmed the truth he has spoke in time past. I think you constructively criticized. I was a fan
@haleyfanning_ I am all about christian brothers and sisters lovingly correct one another in the church "Speaking the truth in love". I don't agree with the statement, but I am becoming more and more persuaded there isn't a biblical way to lovingly rebuke someone over twitter.
@haleyfanning_ Thank you... I agree. It unsettles me like everyone else to hear such a fundamental truth get very twisted like that. I think it boils down to the fact there is 100billion wrong views in the world. Social Media is the easiest way to access them.
