This is pure wisdom from Evra . The double standards in the media are exactly why it feels almost impossible to fully kick racism and bias out of the game. People often lack the emotional intelligence to understand that 'different' doesn't mean 'disrespectful.'
If a player is calm like Olise, they call it lack of passion. If a player shows supreme confidence like Lamine Yamal, they call it arrogance. It’s a trap—they want these young men to be superstars, but they want to dictate exactly how they should act, breathe, and celebrate.
Like you said, football is a game of love, but it’s played in a world full of complexity and conflict. Look at the global stage—Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran—the tension is everywhere. Even moving toward the 2026 World Cup in the USA, people are asking if it’s truly the 'land of the free' or a place that just perpetuates these same power dynamics.

The issue with players like Cherki and Rafael Leão is that they’ve replaced ambition with a smile. They make football look easy, but they rarely make it look dominant.

To reach that "Messi or Ronaldo" stratosphere, talent isn’t enough; you need a pathological hunger to be the best every single day. Haaland and Bellingham have it. Cherki, however, has traded that hunger for comfort.

Too much comfort is the death of a generational talent.
