The training focused on law making and legislative processes, parliamentary oversight, political representation and parliaments role in foreign policy and inter-parliamentary relations. The 2 day programme was conducted by experienced legal and policy experts and academics.

Training on the Constitution and the Somaliland Regions and Districts Law was launched this morning in Burao for the newly elected Burao Local Authority Representatives. This follows on from trainings held in Hargeisa, Borama and Berbera.

@MinisterMed briefed the delegation on the upcoming parliamentary and local elections. Equally, they extensively discussed the legislative framework for the elections, civic education, the rule of law and the Ministry’s long term goals and vision in those poignant areas.

Minister @MinisterMed alongside Director-General, Deqa Abdi Yusuf received a delegation from the Democratic Steering Group for Somaliland comprising of representatives from the UN, EU, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, UK & Finland.

Today @MoPCASL held the official handover ceremony for the outgoing Director-General, @DGJamalMuse and the incoming DG, Deqa Abdi Yusuf. Attending Ministers and dignitaries attested to the tireless work of @DGJamalMuse and welcomed the new Director-General.

I launched the conference on governance and democracy organised by @MoPCASL. With attendees including the government institutions, CSOs, international partners and the public, the conference aimed to increase public discourse on matters pertaining to democracy and governance.

@MinisterMed met with @elin_hilwig, Human Security & Rule of Law Advisor at the Embassy of The Netherlands. A very productive discussion on legal reform, rule of law, the upcoming elections as well as the Dutch government’s new programming in those areas.

This morning, @MinisterMed and other officials from @MoPCASL attended the third quarterly Governance Sector Forum with our international partners. We examined and discussed the progress of governance, security & rule of law programmes in line with #NDP2.

@MoPCASL Minister, @MinisterMed, was part of the President of Somaliland, HE @musebiihi’s delegation that was warmly received in the second capital Burao today to partake in the graduation ceremony of @BuraoUniversity, where hundreds of students received their credentials.

@MinisterMed provided the opening remarks by underlining the fundamental importance of advancing civil rights in Somaliland and the key role that the police play in the rule of law framework, with the Ministers of Interior, Youth & Sport and the Vice Minister of Interior.
