‼️Hot and humid conditions continue for the southwestern half of the state on Sunday with heat index values of 105 to 110 expected where an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through Sunday evening.

⚠️An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through Tuesday evening for far western portions of Missouri including the Kansas City metro area.

The late season heat will continue through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Highs are forecast to be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index values in the 100-105 range.

Prolonged heat is expected to continue through the week with highs in the mid 90 to near 100 with heat index values between 100 to 105. Little relief is expected at night when lows will only fall into the mid 70s to lower 80s.

Very hot conditions with well above normal temperatures are expected the next week. Expect highs in the mid 90s to near 100 with heat index values in the 100-105 range.

🔥Lake of the Ozarks Boat Fire🔥

Trooper Dylan Green and Corporal Brian Geier responded to Franky and Louie’s for a boat fire.

With the help of the Sunrise Beach & Rocky Mount Fire Protection Districts, the fire was extinguished. The cause remains unknown.

Nobody was injured.

7.29: Troop C SWAT team responded to assist the Lincoln County MO Sheriff’s Office with an armed subject barricaded inside a home. While attempting to contact the suspect, he came to the door with a firearm and pointed it at officers. During an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the SWAT team, a member of the SWAT team was struck on his ballistic helmet by gunfire. The suspect suffered fatal injuries. The SWAT member received no injuries.

Chief Stacey Graves has dedicated her entire career to serving the people of Kansas City, first as a civilian records clerk before rising through the ranks to become the chief of police. That achievement, along with the legacy she leaves behind at @kcpolice, stands as a true testament to her extraordinary career.

Those who choose to serve in law enforcement make a commitment to serve others before themselves, and Chief Graves honored that calling with steady leadership, sound judgment, and quiet resolve through some of the city’s most challenging moments. Claudia and I wish Chief Graves and her family every blessing in retirement.

The bottom half of Missouri isn't blushing... but it's still painted shades of pink due to the Extreme Heat. We might sound like a broken record with these heat safety tips, but we'd rather repeat ourselves than have someone suffer a heat-related illness.
✅Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
✅Drink plenty of water, sports drinks, or natural fruit juices to stay hydrated.
✅Avoid alcohol and beverages that contain caffeine as these tend to be dehydrating.
✅If outdoor activity is unavoidable, take plenty of breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned environment away from the heat.

Afternoon and evening storms are possible the next few days, which may be capable of producing gusty winds or locally heavy rainfall. Heat is expected to continue to build into Monday, with heat indices 105 to 110 F possible.
