We are advancing Kenya’s maritime and blue economy agenda through cooperation with Norway, exploring opportunities for investment, knowledge exchange, skills development, technology transfer and job creation across the maritime economy, including opportunities for Kenyan maritime professionals and seafarers to work with established Norwegian maritime companies.

We are also exploring new shipping routes to boost trade, strengthen supply chain resilience, enhance connectivity between the ports of Mombasa and Lamu and Norwegian ports, and expand our shipbuilding capacity.

Met with the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association in Oslo, Norway, where we further discussed opportunities in the blue economy and fisheries sector, as well as cooperation on green shipping, ocean sustainability and decarbonisation, including the development of green trade corridors between Kenya and Norway to support trade, skills development and the energy transition.

We also welcome the commitment by Wilhelmsen Ship Management and other Norwegian shipping companies to employ 1,000 Kenyan seafarers by 2030, including 120 by the end of this year.

Following the decisive victory of Samuel Muchina Nyagah in the UDA party primaries, we have officially issued him with the Certificate of Nomination, affirming his position as the Party’s candidate for the Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for 14th July 2026.

We have completed our internal democratic process, and our focus shifts to the grassroots as we prepare to deploy our political architecture and a well-coordinated campaign to win the vote and confidence of the Ol Kalou electorate. The campaign will be built on an unwavering commitment to the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), inclusive development, and tangible progress that leaves no Ol Kalou resident behind.

UDA Secretary General, Sen. Hassam Omar Hassan expressed confidence in the candidate and lauded the National Elections Board (NEB) for conducting free, fair, and credible nominations with only one dispute lodged and successfully adjudicated upon by Dr. Adrian Kamotho-led Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC).

Held talks with International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Director-General Jerome Kim at State House Nairobi. We have had a strong partnership with the IVI for over 20 years. This relationship has blossomed and recently culminated in the election of our country to the vice-presidency of the IVI Global Council and consequently to the Board of Trustees.

We are committed to continued collaboration in vaccine research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing partnerships, strengthening regulation, and staff development.

Additionally, IVI will be working closely with our academic and research institutions, including the Kenya Medical Research Institute, Kenya Biovax Institute, Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

We have partnered with AMSONS Group to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare to safeguard the lives of mothers and children.

Through this strategic partnership, AMSONS Group is investing KSh4.5 billion in grants for the construction of 10 mother-and-child hospitals in Nairobi, Kwale, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot, Mombasa, Garissa, Embu and Nakuru counties.

Each hospital will include an antenatal section, a maternal ICU, labour, delivery and recovery sections, and two operating tables, alongside other essential equipment.

We are also exploring additional partnerships to deliver a further 14 hospitals, expanding access to underserved regions across the country.
