@JemDuducu@mikemovies@midgetmoxie I watched it when it was released. I loved the title and I liked the story. This said to be fair I have forgotten the plot.
Don't get old!
@mordownik4u@simongerman600 These Poles did good. What Napoleon did was shameful. The French Revolution had abolished slavery. And this was the right thing to do.
Zamiast walczyć przeciwko walczącym o wolność, wielu z nich przeszło na stronę powstańców i stanęło do walki ramię w ramię z Haitańczykami przeciwko wojskom francuskim. Po zwycięstwie rewolucji i ogłoszeniu niepodległości w 1804 roku, pierwszy przywódca Haiti – Jean-Jacques Dessalines – oddał Polakom wielki hołd. Przyznał im pełne obywatelstwo, a w konstytucji nazwał ich „Białymi Murzynami Europy”. Były to słowa najwyższego uznania i braterstwa w tamtych czasach.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe https://t.co/QhxXYzs9L8 via @acast I highly recommend @JemDuducu podcast. History with witty storytelling taking us in all sorts of corners. Heman was also a symbol of this need to a lightheartedness. Kids of the early 80s did not appreciate it but for the older me, it was not having to worry about Vietnam war and Tehran hostages were free. Soon we would be "Seeking desperately Madonna". With great power, we knew great responsibility would follow. Which is why we felt it was not outrageous to try to give our younger siblings crash courses about the right thing to do after each episodes of Maters of the Universe.
Now moving to Blackadder. How did I manage to miss this episode? Will you ever forgive me?

Hoping Hegseth is booted out of his intolerant disrespectful position. Monotheist, polytheists, atheist faiths must be respected. When I read about Pete latest antics, I felt angry and humiliated. As it goes, I believe in ... an afterlife. In higher Being? Beings? This being said nobody has the right to tell me if I am right or wrong and I have no right to do same. I wish you peace and the joy to worship what you freely believe in.
As goði (clergy) of Thor's Oak Kindred, and as someone who helped with the struggle for recognition of Heathens in the U.S. Armed Forces, I've written a statement on Pete Hegseth removing Ásatrú and Heathenry from the Pentagon's official list of recognized religions.

Churchill’s slaughter of 1,300 French sailors was justified – and a lesson for leaders today https://t.co/5J0tQbRZBb via @Telegraph@YahooNews@EdwardAbelSmith
As a French person, one whose paternal uncle paid the ultimate price, I agree with the author. Some abscesses have to be lanced as we say in Medicine. It was cruel, painful but unavoidable. We know who Vichy was, we know Petain. Britain made sure De Gaulle would fight on. Legitimacy through sacrifice. Like cutting off a limb to ensure the rest of the body lived on. And it did. Britain lived another day. France did same. Baby steps toward one day Liberation. In school, in my very French school, we were told about Mers El Kebir how Nazis&Kollabos tried to paint the event. 'They had no choice'. Those sailors died for a Greater Good. No blame against Britain. No suspicion of cowardice against the Dead. Darlan was ambiguous. Did he in fact subliminally suggest to Churchill the course of action which ensued? To preach the impossible to achieve (France denying its Navy to Hitler as impossible) in order to get Churchill know the truth? A twist on preaching the false in order to reveal the truth? Who knows. Darlan was complicated. Much later he would join Freed Algiers to be assassinated shortly after. Double crossing, triple crossing, there is always a crossing too many. Churchill was right. End of.

Gentle reminder to #ancientaliens crowd. The alignments have lived along Armoricans then Bretons then French people since Brittany is a part of France, since 5thC CE Romano-Britons settled in exile in Armorique. No idea how people were calling it before the word Armorica was coined. Importantly it means over millennia the people who lived in the Carnac area before Carnac existed as words exist dealt with them. And we know how it looks in 2026 is not now it looks in 156, 56 AD 56 BC 1526 BCE 2026 BCE and truth be told nobody knows how it was looking at the time it was completed. All the rest is what we call in French 'literature'. Just blowing wind, just noise.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the extraordinary outbursts of the President of the United States against female journalists... well, actually against journalists in general and journalism. But it feels like he saves his most childlike behavior and irrational language for female reporters, calling them all kinds of names that kids in kindergarten are given times out for. It’s stunning to me to witness such behavior from any leader, any CEO, any person of influence or importance. I’ve never witnessed someone like this raging, this weekend with @meetthepress host @kwelkernbc, just last week in the Oval Office with @cnn’s @kaitlancollins, calling women stupid or piggy, telling them to “smile”, calling them darling, demeaning their credibility. Every good man should denounce this behavior. Every person should be able to stand up for their colleagues and say “No more.”
Imagine this man screaming like this at your daughter, your wife, your sister, your mother... would you stand for it? No, you wouldn’t! And neither should any of us. It’s unacceptable and undignified. Period. End of story.
In a field near Wicken, Cambridgeshire larkspur is grown for London florists along with cornflowers & Nigella. It’s quite a sight just now-some floral dopamine for you 🌿:

Fucking NHS. I woke up this morning with some trouble in my eye. Called the optician. Had tests. Sent straight to hospital with a torn retina.
They insisted on giving me laser surgery there and then to fix it. Didn't want any money for the job. Now I'm home again.
How inconsiderate. Joking aside. Remember there are people out there who want to dismantle the NHS.
