I spent over two decades in counterterrorism and I’m still involved in many ways, so here are my views on what I see has happened over the past 24-36 hours in the UK:
Five British men in their twenties were arrested on Sunday near RAF Fairford on suspicion of explosives offences and the preparation of a terrorist act. On Monday they were released on police bail.
That’s not what the terrorism clock looks like when the investigators are still in charge of it.
Under ordinary UK criminal law a suspect can be held for 24 hours, stretched to 36 by a superintendent, and to 96 hours by a magistrate.
But under section 41 of the Terrorism Act the first hold is 48 hours, not 24 hours. A judge can then extend it, in stages, up to 14 days without a charge. If the case merits it, it can even be pushed to 28 days. That 14-day cap exists for exactly this kind of file of vans, an airbase the United States uses, a possible foreign hand, explosives (if there were any) and interviews that are not finished on the first night.
Counter-terrorism police said the inquiry isn’t over. They said conditions apply. They said a state link has not been ruled out. Those sentences he said only make sense if the evidence trail was still live. A live trail is why Parliament built the two-week window.
But watching the guy read out the statement showed me in his body language, tone and eye movements that releasing those five men was NOT his or his department’s decision.
Walking five men after roughly a day is what you do with a pub fight, not with a suspected terrorist attack on a bomber base.
I’ve sat in enough interrogation rooms to know the difference between a custody clock and a political ceiling. Nobody had to shout an order down a phone. Someone in the political building above the investigators decided that charging British nationals on Monday, with Iran already denying it, Washington watching the runway, and a Labour conference where the main topics of discussion were prioritizing Palestinian and other refugees settling in the UK, was uglier than bail and a holding statement.
The law allowed them to keep the door shut. Yet the door opened anyway in half of the most minimum time.
That’s the story. That for me is the only story here. Not “they were innocent.” Not “the case collapsed.” The statute was not exhausted, but the appetite was.
The real question is who, and most importantly, why?
BREAKING: The three terrorists who massacred Christians in a Jordan church have been identified:
•Mohammad Sami Hussein
•Mush’el Zeidan Mohammad
•Hizaa Zeidan Mohammad
They don’t hate America because of our policies.
America represents the most powerful system of man-made constitutional law on Earth.
Islamists believe Sharia law is superior to any law created by man. To them, God’s law must reign supreme, not the Constitution, and not the will of the people.
Anyone fighting this, is our ally.
This is superb by @GoodwinMJ. Absolutely brilliantly stated 🔥🔥
Young British men are being asked to die for a country that spends its time telling them they should be ashamed of it. Their schools and universities train them to see Britain as a racist colonial project that needs dismantling. Their culture is treated as something that only counts when it’s celebrating someone else.
Say you’re English and proud of it and you’re marked as the problem. At the same time the government opens the door to people who have already decided the West is the enemy, and sends billions overseas and into welfare for non-British nationals while the white working-class kids at the bottom of the education system get nothing.
That’s the deal on offer. Hate your own people, watch the state prioritize everyone else, then pick up a rifle when the politicians who built this mess decide it’s time. Most of them have already worked out there’s nothing left worth fighting for.
This past Saturday night saw the triumphant return of Pops Culture to the stage at Brandeis after 40 years. Playing a sold-out Spingold for Brandeis Got Talent, Pops Culture played rousing renditions of The Beatles’ You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away and Love’s A House is Not a Motel. After the performance, Pops Culture said he’s looking forward to performing at his 45th Reunion in five years!

@EvanCull@Mr_Andrew_Fox You quite clearly have absolutely no idea what we’re even discussing here at the moment.
Perhaps this is your cue to just shut up and stop embarrassing yourself.
This is priceless
It sums up the idiocy of the smooth-brains that protest for the Palestinians
They cover each of the protest methods, the keffiyah, gluing to pavement, picketing, targeting Christmas
"Which river, which sea" - they have no clue whatsoever
This is AI, but very well done
Reality folks: all the Palestinians need to do is lay down their arms and accept that Israel has a right to exist and there will be peace
This video masterfully captures the five steps of Palestinianism:
1. Start a war to massacre Jews.
2. Lose the war emphatically.
3. Cry about losing the war endlessly.
4. Pretend to be the victim.
5. Blame everything on the Jews.
Then cut, paste and repeat, over and over and over and over and…
78+ years of this shit and it never changes. And yet all the braindead leftist liberals and imbeciles who stand with them somehow don’t ever put two and two together and see that what the Muslim Arabs have done and continue to do to the Jews is exactly what they did to the Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and every other non Muslim people. The only difference is that unlike everyone else, the Jews fight back. And win. And the Muslim Arabs who have started every war simply can’t handle the fact that a teeny tiny nation keeps defeating the death cult of hundreds of millions of Muslims.
Watch this.
Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1
Breaking News:
British MP, @AdnanHussainMP, has meltdown after figuring out that the British no longer dictate what the Jews can and cannot do in their own land of Israel after the British Mandate ended… checks notes… 78 years ago!!
He’s terribly upset that Israel detained some British politicians trying to enter the country without permission.
Imagine that…
The sovereign state of Israel has its own rules and laws and a Muslim from a foreign country can’t handle the fact that the Jews have a right to self determination in their own land.
I wonder where I’ve heard that before?
The mockery of British elected representatives being detained by a rogue state is disgraceful. Whatever your politics, this should be a matter of principle. Israel must not be allowed to act with impunity. I hope our government condemns this in the strongest possible terms.
Let me highlight “European elected”. It isn’t Israeli elected. We have laws and you and the rest of your group came to deliberately provoke them. We don’t answer to you. In our country we don’t open our borders to terrorists and enemies. That’s the difference between Israel and the UK. You were given the appropriate response your deliberate provocation deserved.
Go to Ed and cry about it.
Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened.
For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter.
The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening.
Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.
When Israel struck Syria to stop the slaughter of Druze civilians, where Syrian forces had massacred hundreds of innocent men, women and children, half the world lost its mind.
When Jordan strikes Syria after gunmen kill people at a church, the world shrugs and is silent.
Same country. Same kind of strike. Yet different rules depending on who is flying the planes.
🚨 JORDAN CARRIES OUT AIRSTRIKES NEAR SYRIAN BORDER
Jordanian forces are reportedly carrying out airstrikes near the Syrian-Jordanian border.
According to initial reports, the strikes are targeting “elements” linked to Friday’s deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church in Karak, which killed nine people.
Jordanian authorities earlier arrested three suspects in connection with the church attack, though officials have not publicly linked them to any specific militant organization.
Harvesting olives is the new flotilla. Pro-Palestinian groups around Europe are paying for hundreds of activists to head to the West Bank in order to provoke confrontation.
Irish Army cannot become a tool of Israel?
Buddy, the Irish Army is about 7,800 people with no tanks, no combat aircraft, and a budget that wouldn’t buy the fuel for a week of Merkava operations. You could fit the entire active force into the parking lot of one Israeli base and still have room for the canteen.
Israel isn’t trying to use your army. Your army couldn’t be used for a toothpick. The only thing it might destroy is the idea that Ireland has a serious military.
The footage of Palestinians celebrating 9/11 and October 7 is far worse than most people want to admit. They weren’t reacting to some vague rumors. These weren’t little things they heard snippets about.
On 9/11 the images of passenger planes hitting the towers were on television everywhere within minutes. They knew civilians were on the planes and inside those buildings and still handed out sweets and danced in the streets. They knew innocent men, women and children were murdered and still cheered wildly.
On October 7 it was even clearer. Hamas was livestreaming the killings, the burnings, the rapes, the beheadings, the hostages, and the attacks on the festival and the kibbutzim. They knew that innocent men, women, children and even babies were butchered. The details were public the same day, inside Gaza. Yet the people still went out, distributed candy, and celebrated while praising Allah.
They knew what had been done to the men, women, and children. They celebrated it anyway.
That’s the part that doesn’t go away. These are NOT poor innocent people. They are monsters who worship death.
