@afneil Note that these graphs are of production not remaining supplies. Refuse to issue new licences, tax the industry to death and then don't be surprised if companies give up drilling. Doesn't mean there's nothing left-just that the industry is being systematically destroyed.
@martb1985@SAshworthHayes You really think France will take someone back who doesn't qualify through any new safe, legal system? If so, I've got a really big bridge to sell you. And in any case, the demand for those places would be far greater than the number available.
@FundFanatic However current pensioners get the benefit of the new SC arrangements but without paying anything in, or at most, very little. Another boomer freebie.
@KathrynPorter26@ret_ward And politicians have consistently lied or at least obfuscated the true costs and trade offs involved with NZ. And now many people are wising up and the Green Lobby don't like it.
@SirSimonClarke Surely an x% charge on assets on death is exactly that, an insurance premium which protects an estate from being completely wiped out by care home costs.
@PunishedRWR@fionahtweet And current pensioners already have a great deal. A pension far higher as a % of earnings than the one they funded for their own parents, and with increased longevity and the same age of eligibility, they get it for far longer. And that's before a triple lock increase guarantee.
@dontdelay@money2themasses I think people are hacked off because it's loading the cost of maintaining the triple lock for current pensioners by pushing back the date of eligibility for those currently working-whose life expectancy are going to be no different.
@dontdelay@Paul_Hatchwell And the tax and social security payments are far higher too. Too many UK pensioners want a French pension in retirement having paid far lower UK taxes whilst they were working.
@Paul_Hatchwell Pensioners are getting a great deal. A triple lock they never had to fund for their own parents. A pension far higher in real wage terms as well than the one they funded. And the same age of eligibility of 65 despite much longer life expectancy.
@Liam_Holman99 Gosh. And what a difference to global temperatures that will make whilst China, India, USA et all are all merrily burning more and more fossil fuels.
@RonnieAitken10@cazjwheeler Great. Could I please have some extra money back from the ££££££ tax I pay every year, if I promise to spend it?
Ridiculous argument.
@dontdelay@adepstein1@JeremyVineOn5 Pensioners didn't have to fund a triple lock for their own parents pensions but it suddenly becomes a god given right once they've retired.
