I believe the oil market is getting a Trump victory wrong. “Drill, baby drill” is 100% toothless. I believe this because I speak directly with the shale CEO’s who tell me this. Don’t believe me? Just look at CVX guiding for a Permian “plateau” next year on their Q3 conf call. What is being forgotten??? Iran. Under Biden Iranian exports surged to 1.8MM bbl/d. I expect Trump to enforce existing sanctions HARD dropping Iranian exports by ~1MM bbl/d. Yes, Saudi and the UAE will step in to fill the void in time, but this will be the beginning of falling/normalizing OPEC spare capacity which is oil bullish!
