China’s real unemployment rate is over 10% amd over 15% with younger people. The CCP hides the destitute in the country. They don’t allow the homeless to wander the streets like U.S. cities. Everything is done to prop up the CCP. Europe has chronically higher unemployment under more socialist economies. It is simple economics. If you intervene into the economy to suppress prices, such as socialism is prone to do, you crowd out jobs. No socialist country has had the economic growth or the GDP of the U.S. In fact, the largest scale socialist economy was the Soviet Union and it was crushed under its own weight. The CCP is actually adopting capitalistic approaches but with capitalism comes freedoms and it is unclear how far they will go. There are plenty of socialist countries for you to go to. We are not going to let you screw our country up more than it already is now with government handouts. The top 10% of income earners pay 70% of all fed taxes, top 25% pay 90%, bottom 50% pay 3%. 70% of the fed budget goes for transfer payments. How much more socialism do you want?

And Iran continued to enrich weapons-grade nuclear material because we couldn’t enforce the inspections. The left slept as if they solved the issue of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon, all the while the treacherous Iranian regime stiffed armed us and kept enriching. And rightly so against a horrible Japanese empire (ask China) who were in cahoots with fascist Italy and Germany who exterminated 6 million people. Big difference from letting an Iranian regime with a warped ideology who have routinely brutalized their people and people of other nationalities have a nuclear weapon. On any given fall Saturday, military aircraft fly over 80-100k fans at multiple college football games with nary an incident. This was far more sparsely populated and the people loved it. Always sticking your pussy ass nose where it does not belong. Please remind me who was harmed. Compare that to the joy and patriotism in endeared. Chronically higher unemployment, dependency on the government, high tax rates, medical care waiting lines, and energy dependent. Admit it, you just don’t like freedom and independence because it comes with self-accountability. Btw, the bad roads are largely in D-controlled cities and states. Sorry Steven but you are sorely mistaken. You clearly do not understand history. In fact, 2A came into existence in large part to protect the power of states to maintain militias. While militias include individuals, the main thrust behind 2A was driven by the states. Not sure why it matters to you but in any event, you whiffed.

Stay in your lane big boy. First, they cost to build and there must be a return of and on investment. If all power generation on the grid were zero marginal cost resources there would be no price for electricity to recover the investment in the market where you were elected. Second, and most importantly, they are intermittent and unpredictable. You cannot run a reliable grid on renewables alone. Third, if you believe batteries are the solution, you will need duplicative infrastructure to produce excess electricity to store at a cost far in excess of today’s cost, imposing a tax on people. Batteries don’t produce power and they don’t charge themselves. Finally, an all renewable and battery grid would require a much larger capacity market, something the likes of people like you hate. Find someone to advise you better. The tight supply/demand situation in the U.S. electricity markets is a product of people like you being fed a bill of goods and buying it without question. You have forced reliability resources to prematurely retire and created a risky and costly electric grid. Think the last few days. Nice job.

It’s called adaptation. There are 2 ways to deal with climate change: adaptation (investing to withstand the change in climate) and mitigation (investing to directly and indirectly reduce emissions). We cannot get there with a single approach and continue to maintain/improve standards of living. The French can ignore climate and not invest but people will die. My guess is the French people will not stand for it. The Earth is ~6.4 B years old. We have climate data for about 150 years. The Earths climate has changed dramatically even before man. I believe the climate is changing and man has contributed but to what extent is debatable. Instead of debating and pointing fingers let’s plot a path of adaptation and mitigation (where feasible) and continue to advance our standard of living, not destroy it. Oh, and what is happening in the middle and eastern part of the U.S. was easily predictable. The 3 pillars of the power business are affordability, reliability and sustainability. They must be balanced. The overemphasis on sustainability by certain administrations has resulted in the early retirement of too much dispatchable, firm-fuel resources for intermittent renewables. Combined with data center proliferation this has caused a tight supply/demand balance with risk of shortages and higher prices. Btw, we were on this path before data centers with premature retirements and electrification. Politicians were misled and they did not seek a balanced perspective. So, here we are! 🤷

The basic premise of tipping continues to hold firm: server compensation partly from fixed wages and mostly from tips that are earned and variable based on level of service. Restaurants and customers benefit, and so can servers if they deliver a great experience. I tip nearly always. I agree it is part of total compensation but also agree it is variable based on server performance. It is not an entitlement just like bonuses paid by many companies. There are reasons to not tip but if service is good you need to find a way. Think 20% going in and factor it into your food choices. If servers were paid a full wage instead of partly with tips your bill would be higher. Inability to pay a tip is hogwash.

Unfortunately the D’s focused solely on climate change and forgot about affordability and reliability forcing dispatchable, firm-fuel power generation to retire early while replacing it with intermittent renewables with a fraction of the effectiveness and periods of non-performance. In the power business we balance affordability, reliability, and sustainability. D policy ignored these sacred pillars. Any imbalance and rash measures must be taken and people get hurt or worse. It is unmistakable that the predicament we are in is a direct result of overzealous D policy.
