NEW: Community comes together and buys a South Bend, Indiana, man a new vehicle after his beat-up Chevy Silverado went viral online.
Mo Riles says his truck was severely damaged over the years.
Thanks to the fact that Indiana doesn't require routine vehicle inspections, Riles was able to keep driving the truck.
Local detailing shop owner Colin Crowel took note of the truck and decided to do something about the situation.
Crowel was able to raise $22,000, which was used to buy Riles a new truck.
"Here's a human being seeing another human being struggle. And I'm like, wow, what did I do to deserve this?" Riles said.
"This whole thing is not about me. It's about this community bonding together. God is good."
Big first day for KPD’s newest (and fluffiest) team member!
We’re happy to report that our new therapy dog arrived on time for his first day at work, clearly setting a great example for the rest of us.
After reviewing all the wonderful name suggestions, we are excited to officially welcome Grainger to the Kinston Police Department family!
Over the next few months, Grainger will spend time getting acclimated with his handler, Sgt. Biggins, before beginning certified training with the North Carolina Police Dog Association (NCPDA)
We are especially grateful to William and Erin Stanley for their generous donation, and to NCPDA which made this program possible "all at no cost to taxpayers."
Grainger’s future role will focus on supporting the health and wellness of our officers, staff, and community members. We can’t wait for you to meet him!

I told y’all I had something big planned for Carolina. One of the ways we’re helping is a benefit concert at Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 26th! This concert took so much planning, work, and coordination from so many people. I’m so thankful to everyone who helped make this a possibility on such short notice. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday and 100% of all proceeds will be going directly to those who need it most. For updates, details, and ways you can help, please visit https://t.co/1RUW46oKZP.
Local news has been covering Helene since well before it hit! Tune into any local outlet in North Carolina -- we are there for our family, friends and colleagues all over this beautiful state and our hearts are with those suffering from this awful storm. We are neighbors.
