There are so many stories floating around in the media about how “cruel” the US Border is under President Trump.

I’ve never told this story publicly before, but let me tell it now.

In November, while Joe Biden was President, I was detained at the US border coming back with @JoeyMannarinoUS from a conference in El Salvador.

As everyone may know, we got married in May 2023 after being together as a couple for about three years.

In any case, we went through the border control together. He was let through. I was not.

At that time, I held a temporary green card (it lasts two years until they issue the permanent one that lasts ten).

They told me I had to go to secondary inspection. Joey told them he was coming with me.

We went and there were about 30 people waiting in front of us. After about three hours of waiting, I was called in to the interview room where I was asked about EVERYTHING in my life and many questions about Joey.

One of the interesting ones about him was “Why is your husband a conspiracy theorist?” and “Why does he have so many dinners with Donald Trump?”

Those stuck out to me because he never had dinner with Donald Trump and isn’t a conspiracy theorist.

The rest of the interview focused on trying to paint us as some type of sex traffickers. We are not. That is absurd.

But, it is the same thing that trolls on X had been accusing me of for months since they found out about my marriage.

They openly admitted to running campaigns to report me and Joey to ICE so there was little shock when the questioning sounded just like a comment section on X.

At the end of the questioning, she asked to see my phone and also the phone and devices of my husband, who was not being detained by them.

They searched him, tried to question him and even kept one of his phones. He is a US citizen born and raised.

They realized he would not speak to them so they let him go. They did not let me go.

They put me into a cell with two Venezuelan girls. We slept on the floor and there was one bathroom for the three of us. We all had to watch one another pee.

I was kept there for 36 hours. In the meantime, Joey was making call after call to lawyers, high-level friends and others to try and get me released.

I was on my period at that time but could not even get changed or showered. I got an infection in there that lasted two weeks after.

I was talked to by the guards in the rudest possible way. One even called me a bitch and told me to “shut the fuck up”.

When I was finally released, my green card was kept and I was released on a “parole” into the country.

At that point, I never had a more clear idea than wanting to get back to my country and leave the USA.

The experience scarred me so much I just wanted to be home. So, the next day, Thanksgiving Day, we took a flight back to Europe. We already had it booked so it was the easiest decision ever.

I have not been back to America since and have no intention to come back.

So do not say that Donald Trump treats people badly at the border. The people he is taking into custody are MS-13 gang members, Tren De Aragua gang members and so many more criminals who deserve no place in America.

Under Joe Biden, Border Czar Kamala Harris and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas I was treated this way for no apparent reason. I will never not believe that this was politically targeted at both myself and Joey because of our large platforms on X.

A country absolutely should have strong borders and deny criminals the right to live there and enter, but it should not mistreat innocent people who simply disagree with the political views of the administration in power at that time.

I have hesitated to share this story but I cannot stay silent as people act as though Donald Trump is doing something so bad by protecting his country.
