Korbinian Holzer has announced his retirement from professional hockey at the age of 38.
From Munich, Germany, Korbinian was selected by the Toronto @MapleLeafs in the 2006 @NHL Entry Draft, and played five professional seasons in Germany before joining the Maple Leafs organization for the 2010-11 NHL season.
On November 6, 2010, Korbinian made his NHL debut at home against the Buffalo Sabres. Korbinian scored his first NHL goal at the beginning of the 2013 season on February 5, 2013, scoring the third goal for Toronto in a 3-2 win, earning him the game-winning goal.
After parts of the three seasons with Toronto, Korbinian joined the @AnaheimDucks in the 2015 offseason, appearing in 145 regular-season games with Anaheim from 2015 to 2020, before joining the @PredsNHL near the end of the 2019-20 NHL season.
Korbinian’s professional hockey career continued in Europe, featuring three seasons at home in Germany and two in Austria, respectively.
Internationally, Korbinian proudly represented Germany on multiple occasions, highlighted by the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, serving as an alternate captain on the Men’s Olympic Hockey Team.
Congratulations on your retirement, Korbinian, and welcome to the NHL Alumni Association!
