They probably made this change because of Fanny Alger. She was more than likely not a plural wife but rather someone Joseph Smith had an affair with or perhaps assaulted. Who knows?
In 2024, the Church gained 308,682 members through convert baptisms and 91,617 through members of record.
That is an increase of 400,299 members in 2024
The Church, however, only reported an increase of 254,387 members.
That means 145,912 members died, were exed, or left.
It’s not “anti-Mormon” literature that will get you. It’s allowing yourself to consider that just maybe “anti-Mormon” literature is merely Church history.
I think the biggest issue with Ward Radio is that they think they are intelligent just because they read things. They read just enough to say something about something, but not enough to get the whole picture. Their latest on Thomas Jefferson is an old conspiracy theory.
According to what Mormons say happened, Joseph Smith did not translate the Book of Mormon. He dictated in English words he read in English. The actual dictation of the Book of Mormon occurred after the text was already written. That’s not very miraculous.
You don’t have the amount of following he has and not have power in the Church.
Also, he is a man. Of course he has power in the Church.
Also, why are comments turned off?
I was asked to give a lesson on this talk and despite it being one of my least favorite talks, I agreed to give the lesson. It presents multiple questions for me.
One is, “can God trust us?”
If God is omniscient, He can’t “firmly believe” in our ability because He knows.
It’s like an abusive relationship. The abuse says, “You must strictly obey me or face punishment,” and then when he eases the burden he’s placed upon you, you praise him and are grateful for him.
