The Kenyan court’s decision to halt the proposed U.S.-backed #Ebola quarantine facility is welcome news.

This was never about denying care to Americans exposed to Ebola. It was about asking why the U.S. is building a parallel system overseas when it has already invested billions in specialized biocontainment units, transport capabilities, and clinical expertise at home.

Resources would be better spent supporting the outbreak response in affected countries and ensuring exposed Americans have access to the highest standard of care available.

Public health should be guided by evidence, expertise, and ethics—not politics.
