SOUTH CAROLINA — @RepJamesClyburn: “Why is it when you have a 75% white district that’s not racial, but you have a 45% Black district that is racial? There’s no way the numbers bear this out… I never thought I’d see the day the Supreme Court would be so openly partisan.”
.@JamesTalarico to Joe Rogan: My principal told me I was going to teach this kid named Justin, who had brought a knife to school. I told him I wanted to get to know him. We started to build a rapport. Right before winter break, he brought me this gift — a snowflake that he had bought at the Dollar Tree for his teacher.
I came back after winter break and heard this commotion. There were two of our coaches restraining Justin. That was the last time I ever saw him. Justin had been seeing a therapist provided by the school district, but because of budget cuts, the district had eliminated the therapist.
Adults he was trying to trust were abandoning him. That was the radicalizing experience for me. People at the state capitol had cut $5 billion from our schools. I promised myself that if I ever got power I would do everything I could to stop that. Justin and my students are the criteria I use to evaluate public policy.
We’re saddened to learn of the passing of “Mr. Goalie” Glenn Hall.
Hall was our first pick in the 1967 Expansion Draft and helped guide our franchise to the Stanley Cup Final in our first three seasons.
Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.
No one has accountability anymore except to shareholders. That’s why politics don’t matter anymore because your elected officials don’t run United healthcare.
The poor literally need welfare programs because of the money the top 0.01 percent have. Updated numbers would say you need to have billions to be off that x axis. But the 99% keep fighting each other instead. The whole problem is caused by the privatization of America.
