@AkivaMCohen While I am definitely concerned about compelled speech, I thought the Sotomayor dissent addressed this in a way that I didn't expect (contrasting the expressive content of a sale vs. to whom it is sold). I'll be eager to read your comment about it, should you decide to share one.
@AkivaMCohen This is one of the things I'm taking some solace from. My hope is that the words now will be matched by actions into the future, and that those actions will actually produce the desired outcome.
I'm leery of experiences like the University of Michigan's.
@Marriott Thankfully the humans who answer the phones at @Marriott are more capable, and I got my reservation handled.
(Even though I'm a developer, I increasingly want to talk to people for tasks like this - and experiences like this are one reason why)
Has anyone else run into this website bug on @Marriott where the site forces you to change your password, then doesn't save the password - forcing you to start the process again?
Good system, that.
The contrast is with this thread, which matches what I've picked up about the process of scientific inquiry (albeit barely participated in myself).

I did policy debate in high school and college. I did fairly well at it, and really enjoyed the activity.
That said, I would co-sign this thread with enthusiasm. There were some practices I had to de-condition myself from afterwards.
1/7 As someone who has long described himself as a recovering debater, permit me a few thoughts about high school (and college) debate as an organized extracurricular activity:
@AstroKatie@Harry_is_human My level of concern over Covid has decreased a lot over the last year (which may not be rational on my part) - but if the tests are provided by the asker, I struggle to anticipate a reason not to take one.
@greg_doucette I feel like everyone is speculating about Cannon mostly because of her ruling to refer to the special master; is there some other part of her track record that I'm forgetting?
How predictive is that decision of how she would handle this trial?
@BaileyAJohnson_ I understand the parsing of language, but my greater concern is whether the team themselves view this "issue" as a problem? I understand that processes take time to play out, and visas can be hard - but opening day wasn't sprung on the team, nor on the players.
@ThatAndromeda To be honest, though, I may just not have looked hard enough, or on the wrong instances - I keep meaning to go back and search again, to make sure I'm not operating from an outdated understanding.
@ThatAndromeda There's a fair amount of space / astronomy chatter, Formula 1 commentary, and the Crew. Some of the lawyers I follow have left, but some key ones are still here as well.
@lukehollis@nerfstudioteam Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting more familiar with this approach (the last time I tried this was during 123D Catch and other tools whose names I've forgotten)
