Tarleton State, pushing to become the first NCAA DI wrestling program in Texas, has been accepted into a conference.
Head Coach Grant Leeth says they’re just weeks away.
Crazy that just a few years ago, @Stanford almost dropped wrestling and now they have four All-Americans, an NCAA finalist, and are in 6th place at the NCAA tournament
Front page sports coverage in The Press Enterprise highlighting the fight for CBU Wrestling.
CBU chose to eliminate three programs rather than expand opportunities. As this conversation continues, there are meaningful paths forward including the potential to add women’s programs such as women’s wrestling, one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
This is about ensuring opportunities for all student athletes #keepcbuwrestling
Thank you to @DennisPope and @pressenterprise for telling this story with clarity and fairness.

“Keep CBU Swim & Dive and Keep CBU Wrestling announced Tuesday that they’re partnering with the American Sports Council and the @PacificLegal to petition to repeal the 1979 Policy Interpretation of Title IX and get it back to what was intended when it was initially passed in 1972.”

Today was a milestone day in our fight to #KeepCBUWrestling and #keepcbuswimdive
Our coalition has partnered with the American Sports Council to file a petition with the Department of Education to reform how Title IX is enforced.
Title IX was originally created to ensure no person is denied educational opportunities on the basis of sex—but over time, enforcement has expanded far beyond that clear standard, creating confusion and inconsistency for schools and student-athletes.
Our petition calls for restoring clarity, fairness, and accountability—including ensuring Title IX is applied in a way that protects opportunities, respects due process, and provides consistent rules for institutions to follow.
Right now, shifting interpretations and unclear guidance have left schools making decisions that impact entire programs and athletes without transparency or consistency.
This is about getting Title IX back to what it was meant to do: protect equal opportunity—not eliminate it.
We’re just getting started.
