Our @WoodlandPK8 sixth graders are finishing their cam-driven automata projects. A mix of @tinkercad-designed 3D printed parts along with hand-engineered elements, controlled with @microbit_edu and coded in the new Python editor.
Is there a viable alternative to a conventional lawn? Cornell Botanic Gardens is testing sustainable options for replacing your backyard grass. The bonus: They don’t need to be cut more than twice a year.

@Disney_GBP_NPS @openblackboard@DesignMakeTeach@GirlsWhoCode The @trinketapp is a python environment that allows for neat projects of various kinds. https://t.co/Cp3JpnrW1U
The @microbit_edu python editor is also excellent and great for this transition. You can use the simulator and / or a physical microbit. https://t.co/X1MbT0XRVp
Hey @relativityspace, my @StAlbans_STA Summer Program students designed and 3D printed their own rockets this week and today was launch day using our @airrocketworks launcher! Thanks @morrill_rob for the initial designs!
Eighth grade graduation today. My tie tail was a little unruly, but @tinkercad had my back. Monogrammed tie clip in 40 minutes, please and thank you.
@FairDealDave@glowforge@tinkercad Thanks! They are @tinkercad shapes exported as SVGs. I let the kids experiment with the pieces before eventually constructing their beasts and hot gluing connections. Heads are hand drawn, then scanned and also cut w @glowforge. 3D printing possible but much more time-consuming.
Fourth graders learned about animal adaptations, planned fictional critters, created custom heads with @glowforge, used @tinkercad designed parts, assembled & painted, and wrote descriptive plaques.
@MsHaughs@glowforge@tinkercad Great Q. The recycled cardboard I use is 4 mm, so the rectangles in the stock pieces are 3.9 mm wide for a snug fit. Kids draw their critter heads, & I scan them in the @glowforge. I then resize scans & add one of the rectangles so their custom head can attach to the stock parts.
More than 800m trees have been cut down in the Amazon rainforest in just six years to feed the world’s appetite for Brazilian beef, according to a new investigation, despite dire warnings about the forest’s importance in fighting the climate crisis. https://t.co/479MD3ope5
AI is developing at an exponential rate, and anyone in the creation or education game will be impacted very soon if not already. I found views from @salkhanacademy and @harari_yuval useful takes on different angles. Watch both imho.

I'm SO impressed by the thought process here. In an amazing way, it feels like turning additive manufacturing into subtractive. Not quite the right metaphor, but it's turning the process on its head in such an innovative way.
I thought.. how about I design a model that when removed from its supports leaves a beautiful support-only design behind. This is my Geode Bowl designed for the @printablescom organic supports competition. 😊 More details in comments
