@1418research I am mulling this over too, this platform seems to be an appalling place at the minute but I hope it will calm down, there are so many great historians (yourself included!) and groups on here, will be sad to lose them. Signed up to the blue one also, maybe more move over there.
Came across an interesting memorial board in Richmond at the weekend, never heard of the FWW Belgian village there before or the fact that they were producing munitions for the Belgian army.
@henrywinter@tonypastor70@WeHaveWaysPod Great talk, really enjoyed it, and as a Liverpool fan very pleased to hear about the youth team visit to Auschwitz and the laying of the lights.
Well just getting over another superb #WHWF weekend, so happy to be back in my own bed last night! Fantastic talks, people, kit and displays. A surprise highlight was the three veterans on Friday, very humbling and moving to listen to.
@mikepearson1939 If you have Netflix there are definitely some good ones on there - Photographer of Mauthausen, Five Came Back, Narvik, Forgotten battle, the bombardment. Take it easy and hopefully see you at an IC pub meet soon.
@LL_running_girl There are a couple of really interesting programs on Netflix at the minute that cover Mauthausen- a Spanish film the Photographer of Mauthusen well worth a watch, and the harrowing US documentary films Five Came Back the firs of which is on the liberated camps, essential viewing
@WHW_NorthernIC@WeHaveWaysPod@Nickleh@riksbar1 Fantastic evening, thanks to Athol for organising and everyone who came along tonight for making it so enjoyable, and special mention to Erik and his fiendish quiz, sprue nightmares ahead!
