Serves him right.

When I graduated and went for service in the far north, my wife was due for service 6 months after.

She made sure I fought for her to be posted to the same state that I was posted to.

She was ready to sacrifice serving in Lagos to be with me.

And she did.

We met again in service and continued to cohabit. She kept on cooking for me, doing everything to support me.

I left her in service 6 months after, she finished service and came back to Lagos to be with me.

She got a job that was paying her about 75k and withdrew her entire first salary and brought it to my house.

I told her that I wasn't her husband yet, so she should take it home and present it to her family.

I took 1k or 2 from it and we ate rice in a restaurant (if my memory serves me right).

She followed me bumper to bumper every step of the way, while I was busy searching for a better job because at the time, we were both earning about the same monthly salary.

When I told my people and hers that I wanted to marry her, I was still squatting with my friends.

I still proposed to her like that in that mini apartment that I was squatting, she accepted but told me that I needed to get a better job before I can marry her.

She stood by me throughout.

I got a better job and showed her my offer letter, and that was how we started planning for our wedding.

First, I rented a 3 bedroom apartment, next I bought a car (which she advised me against).

Then I married her.

It was all 9 years in the making.

And since then, I have been leading her and she has been helping me raise a family.

I didn't deprive myself of what would be of future benefit for both of us for her wants or greed. I was staying ahead and she was pushing me and encouraging me.

Today, she doesn't work anymore but she doesn't feel jobless.

She earns reasonable amount from me for being the woman that gave her all for the man that she believed in.

Thank God for his mercies.
