Last year we noticed data showing enormous increases in gold exports from Africa to the UAE, particularly from countries adjacent to war zones in places like Congo & Sudan. Since then we've been flying around the world to follow the supply chain & crunching the numbers 🧵
What should the next 5 years of #communityland registration look like?
Kenya’s Community Land Mass Registration Masterplan (2026–2031) is open for public comments.

This is me right now. Two years ago I was shot during the June 25 Gen Z protests. I've been living with a spinal cord injury since, and I self-catheterize because of neurogenic bladder.
That led to recurring UTIs and sepsis. Today I successfully underwent surgery at Emory Hospital Nairobi to remove a bladder stone at my left vesico-ureteric junction (5x7mm). The fragments were removed. I'm recovering now with some pain and bleeding, which the doctors say is normal.
@VOCALAfrica_ helped me get here, and I'm grateful. But I still need medication, physiotherapy and follow-up care. I still haven't received any government compensation.
I'm sharing this because I need help for what comes next. Any support means everything. 🙏🏽

It shouldn’t be usual for ID application processes to take several months or even years. Yet this is the reality due to #IDDelays.
On #IDDay, we joined @ParanetRight & communities in Wajir for a march to stress the importance of legal identity & call attention to ID delays.
People have been deprived of essential government services and even their right to vote because they do not have national identity cards. Even children do not have birth certificates.
PARANET marched side by side with the community of Wajir today on International Identity Day. Together we walked through town to demand an end to long ID delays and full recognition of pastoralists’ right to legal identity. No more waiting. No more invisibility. #MyIDMyRight
IDDelays are one of the many hurdles to ensuring equitable access to IDs for all Kenyans. We call for an end to ID delays so that all Kenyans can be treated equally & fairly in the process of obtaining legal ID documents. @NRBKitambulisho@InteriorKe@HudumaKenya#MyIDMyRight
On #IDDay, we’re reminded that the struggle to access ID cards is still a reality for millions of Kenyan citizens.
The time to remedy this is now! #MyIDMyRight#IDDay#StopIDDelays
