The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Phillips Pharmaceuticals (Uganda) Ltd, @PATHadvocacy, and @PSIUganda, has officially launched the SAYANA PRESS single-unit injectable contraceptive for use in the private sector demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing self-care and family planning access in Uganda.

This launch aligns with the National Guidelines on Self-Care Interventions for Health (available at https://t.co/QxHAUxFQ8Z), which emphasize that when self-care options are accessible and affordable, they can broaden individual choice and empower people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

SAYANA PRESS is designed for long-term contraception, based on a shared decision between an individual and their healthcare provider—such as a doctor, nurse, or other health professional—regarding the method that best suits their needs.

This initiative is a result of a strong public-private collaboration with Phillips Pharmaceuticals leading on product distribution, @PATHadvocacy is supporting capacity building among healthcare providers, and @PSIUganda spearheading product market development and women’s empowerment.

Discussions focused on supporting industrialists in the agriculture sector while ensuring benefits for farmers and other stakeholders along the value chain.

NARO is showcasing technologies designed for high yields, pest and disease resistance, fast maturity, enhanced nutrient value, and value addition machinery.

At Dr. Joshua Musinguzi's funeral in Masindi today, the newly appointed Minister of State for Gender, Labour, & Social Development, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, surprised everyone by serving refreshments to mourners. This unexpected act of humility mirrored the character of the late Dr. Musinguzi, whom we fondly remember and send off today.

NARO on Tuesday hosted an Egyptian delegation here to concretise arrangements for a joint production of vaccines for the Foot and Mouth Disease.

The team visited and assessed the vaccine facilities at NARO's @NaLIRRI, where they were impressed by the already existing production capacity.

In the short term, the Egyptian Government will be delivering 3M doses of Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine as a collaboration is established to produce a Monovalent SAT-1 FMD vaccine, and have it reconstituted with the Egyptian trivalent Vaccine containing serotypes O, A, SAT-2, to have a complete quadrivalent vaccine.

The meeting yielded very positive outcomes for the short, mid and Long term engagements.
