They absolutely robbed Hamilton. First they said the race would restart after the safety car, then out of nowhere they decided to finish behind the safety car instead. FIA has made plenty of controversial decisions over the years, but this was on another level.
The track was already clear by around laps 49–50. If teams had known FIA was going to pull something like this, Hamilton never would have pitted. In fact, more than half the field came in for fresh tires.
It honestly felt like they made that call just to keep Russell in P2. Had the race restarted, Russell would’ve been sitting on worn medium tires while almost everyone behind him had fresh softs. He likely would’ve been passed by several drivers and could’ve dropped as far as fifth.
But once again, FIA did what FIA does.

@ScuderiaFerrari Why would you make Hamilton pit, with a safety car and 4 laps to the end ? 🤔. Who make this decisions? You work very hard to lose. Of course safety car was going to stay on track to the end. 🤦♂️. It was an easy 1-2.
🚨BREAKING: For first time ever, VAR reviewed a yellow card:
>The ref gave a USA player a yellow for a foul vs Paraguay
>VAR reviewed the foul and saw the Paraguay player clearly flopped
>The ref removed the USA yellow and gave it to the Paraguay player for diving
In the end, the right call was made… W or L VAR?
