The high degree of prosperity in the Nordic countries is not because of the intense welfare system, but in spite of it. It is thanks to an economy that in many respects is luckily still very capitalist, but particularly because of culture. Long before the modern Nordic welfare state was built (mid-20th century), Scandinavian culture was already defined by high social trust, strong work ethics, and heavy emphasis on personal responsibility. The expansion of the welfare state, globalist forced integration and centralization in the European Union has only served to erode these values, and must all be reverted as fast as possible.

And this data is not due to an immigration artifact, i.e. those that move to the US are already among the wealthiest Scandinavians. This study and others explicitly controls for that. In fact, the immigration to the US from the Nordics throughout the 19th and 20th century was from the poorest and least educated segments of society.
